I had a fantastic experience with high-quality hunts, successfully taking an elk and a mountain lion. The accommodations were excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.
When we made our reservations, we were informed there would be a $30 daily fee to use the kitchen in the Bunk House, which was free the previous year. Since we opted not to rent the kitchen, we had no access to essentials like water glasses or a coffee pot. At $115 a night for a room with a queen bed, shared bathroom, and no breakfast, coffee, or water service, the price felt excessive. Two days before our arrival, we were notified of a fire in the nearby high country and that firefighters would be staying on the property and using the showers. This meant we would be sharing the showers with potentially up to 40 extra people. We were offered rooms at the Lodge for an additional $40 a night or the option to cancel, but since we intended to attend the 4th of July Rodeo and Team Roping events, we had no alternative accommodations. The management seemed indifferent to our situation. John, the manager, handled our complaints, but we left after three nights feeling like second-class guests.
