Woodwind - Chicago
Woodwind
Description
Nestled on the 18th floor, WoodWind offers stunning city views and a charming ambiance, making it an appealing dining destination. While the service is generally attentive and friendly, diners have noted shortcomings in music volume and dessert quality. The cocktail selection, highlighted by skilled mixologists, impresses, though some food items, like the soufflé and chocolate dessert, fail to meet expectations. Appetizers shine, particularly the chickpea fries, while entrees such as short ribs and octopus receive positive feedback. Overall, WoodWind emerges as a hidden gem, balancing solid culinary offerings with room for improvement in certain areas.

The rock music from the 70s and 80s was blasting too loudly for our comfort. We had to ask three staff members to turn it down. The fish we ordered wasn't cooked properly. Additionally, our table hadn't been cleaned, and we had to refill our own water glasses. We also had to request our check. When it arrived, we were confused by the sugar cane garnish that came with it—it seemed out of place for us. We noticed that there were only a handful of other customers during our visit, which perhaps explains why we felt out of sync with the overall atmosphere.
Wow. The highlight of our Chicago dining experience. Our only regret is that we didn’t use to eat outside as it was a beautiful evening and there is a Great Terrace. The food quality an appearance and taste was scrumptious. My husband had the winter squash gnocchi with mussels and garlic chili crisp, which was divine. I had the four course dinner that included rice Chicharron, which was rice with flavors of bagels and lox, sour cream and onion foam, the squash and apple bisque with pecans, candied ginger the pan, seared salmon in a Korean barbecue sauce with chard broccolini, crispy enoki mushroom, and for dessert a pot du crème. To top it all off and we got our check, it came with a cone of cotton candy, which neither one of us had had in ages and of course we devoured it. her server was perfect knowledgeable and very friendly. The setting is very modern and very scenic. 18 floors up.
Came here for a last minute dinner and was not disappointed. The green onion soup was amazing and steak tar tar was so fresh and seasoned perfectly. I had a smoked old fashioned and the presentation was so cool and you could smell it from across the roomgiving a fajita effect.
Went there after my mom's doctor's appointment. We both had burgers...hers off the Prix Fix which offered appetizer and dessert. We had a Bloody Mary and a margarita, they were good. They offered us cotton candy after the meal, that was a pleasantsurprise. We will go again after her next visit.
