Colin's Fish - Caerphilly
Colin's Fish
Description
Colins Chip Oil offers friendly service and delicious Irish curry, making it stand out in the chilly weather, but be wary of the small and expensive portions. While the chips quality may have declined over the years, the jumbo sausage and gravy are tasty. However, it's important to avoid chips in the evening as they may be leftover from the afternoon. Overall, while the food inconsistency is a concern, the delicious fish and pie make a return visit worthwhile.

I purchased chips from this place yesterday for lunch as a special treat for my son. I'm not sure if they were reheated from the night before, but they were tough, brown, and didn't taste good. The sausage in batter was also not up to par. However, the jumbo sausage and gravy were tasty. Unfortunately, I had to throw away both portions of chips. Both my son and I were disappointed and left still hungry. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
I've tried the fish and chips at this place in the past and they were just alright. However, this week I decided to also try their pie and chips and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't usually get impressed by fish and chips, but this meal was fantastic. I would highly recommend it.
Colins Chip Oil is one of the best restaurants around. The customer service is unmatched, with a welcoming smile that is much appreciated, especially during this chilly weather. Be sure to try the Irish curry - it's really delicious.
Whether lunch or dinner, this is the place to go for freshly cooked fish and chips (real cod, not the fake stuff). The staff are lovely and welcoming.
