Was Peter Steinberg at Jinye Cafe a mag?
This was my first experience ordering from Jinye Cafe, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered the wonton soup, thinking it would be a noodle soup, but to my surprise, it was a bowl of wontons and cabbage. It wasn't a major issue, but I believe the menu could benefit from clarification to prevent any confusion. The wontons were decent, but nothing particularly special, and the scallion pancakes were similar—just... View all feedback.
What Eric Arellano dislikes about Jinye Cafe:
Make sure to double-check your order when picking it up. My beef with scrambled egg noodles didn't have any beef or eggs in it. The food feels like a joke. I would give zero stars if I could. View all feedback.
It’s a cozy little spot with delicious food. Be sure to bring cash if you're just ordering 1 or 2 items, as they typically only accept cash for purchases of $25 or more.
The food is excellent and truly authentic! The customer service is also great, and I would definitely return!
All of their dishes are delicious and satisfying. I always order their congee or rice plates, and they never disappoint!
Stick to the rice plates and wonton noodle bowls. No nonsense authentic Cantonese cafe. Only has a handful of tables so we did takeout. Prices are very reasonable with generous portions. Staff are patient and helpful. Would come again when I am in thearea.
Took a visit last week to try one of the highly-praised Hong Kong style dishes in Quincy. We shared 4 menus which came in staggering portions. The portion for each dish was almost equivalent to 2 meals, and we also got a free hot milk tea. However,we weren’t very impressed with the overall quality of the food. While these may be authentic Hong Kong style dishes, theycertainly weren’t the best I’ve tried. Only menu that I liked was the salt and pepper pork chops. I didn’t like how theyput napa cabbage in a lot of the dishes. The slimy texture of the cabbage and its flavor weren’t very good combinations withthe rice and the meats. Although I grew up eating a lot of cabbage, this certainly didn’t seem like the best way to integrategreens into the dishes. The fried rice was also bland, and we ended up leaving most of it.
