Pj's Drive-in
Description
Set in a compact airport-terminal spot adjacent to a bowling alley, this family-run mom-and-pop serves reliably fresh, affordable comfort food — standout gyros, gyro-topped burgers, chili cheesesteaks and charred rib tips. Service is fast, friendly and accurate, and a charming hot-tea pot adds a homely touch. Dining space is limited and some sides can be inconsistent, but the neighborhood vibe and wallet-friendly prices make it a worthwhile stop for travelers and locals.

The dining space is understandably limited, given that it's located in an airport terminal. I ordered the main dish, the steak, but was not impressed with the sides—mac and cheese and steamed broccoli. The atmosphere had a bit of a cafeteria vibe. The steak itself was tender and flavorful, but it had some tough connective tissue that I found difficult to chew. The broccoli, while mild, was unexpectedly tough. The mac and cheese was enjoyable, but I would have preferred it made with pureed potatoes instead. Interestingly, my favorite part of the meal was how the hot tea was served. It came in a small pot accompanied by lemon and honey, which was a lovely touch. Overall, the service was excellent.
Love this place, the food is great, always fresh, hot and the taste is fantastic. Fast, friendly and my order is always correct. My roommates and I order at least 2x a month, it's that affordable. The staff is wonderful, it's really wicked to see a family owned business were the family, including kids, work together. Reminds me of the neighborhood joint from back in the day. Highly recommend them!
PJ's by far has the best gyro plate in town. PJ's is a family owned business very friendly service. Everything I've had from there has been great. We will definitely be back.
Best gyro in Chicago, hands down. Burgers are also great!! Great family owned and operated. If you order a gyroscope, ask for the meat carved. The tackiness and the way the flavor seal makes it a completely new sandwich. Most places consider me cramped when I beat it, PJ is the master of craft.
