Mal hingehen.
We were in Bonn for a night and ended up in Joligs by accident. After an hour we were guided to the vitrine, where we got an extensive explanation of all the different dishes by the owner of the place. You can tell he was really passioned by his food and cooking. Another hour later we got the starters we chose, yet another half our later we got our main dish. Truth be told, the food was really great! Nevertheless, we waited 2.5 hours for something that was finished in a little over 5 minutes. I could have copied the universal declaration of human rights by hand, run half a marathon or watch a third of Lord of the Rings in that time. We were tired and somewhat drunk (from the great wine) when we found out the place does not accept credit cards, so we had to end our already long evening with a walk to the ATM and back. I recommend this place if you're a foodie and looking for an experience. Make a reservation and bring cash. I don't think the place should accept guests, like us, without an invitation, especially when the place is packed. Bon appetit.
Our first visit to Joligs – and we were excited. A voucher brought us to Bonn 's Südstadt district, and we 'd been wanting to try Joligs for a long time anyway. The concept is unique, and we 'd never experienced anything like it before. Instead of choosing from a menu, guests browse the tapas displayed in a glass case and select their appetizer, main course, and dessert. The selection is generally good and varied – and, as I understand it, constantly changing – but unfortunately, it looked a bit unappetizing (perhaps the food has been sitting there for a while), which made us less than enthusiastic about eating. Perhaps this could be improved. The food itself was delicious – we especially enjoyed the scallops. The black aioli was also interesting. And the red wine was truly excellent. Many portions can also be ordered as large portions —a single portion costs around €13 (dips are €6), and large portions are around €20. For two people, we paid approximately €115 without dessert. The service was very friendly (especially the young man) and explained the concept well. Unfortunately, just placing our order took almost an hour (the staff presents each table individually at the display case, detailing the dishes), and until then, we only had drinks. Dips or something similar would have been nice, as we arrived hungry. Overall, we 're torn between a 3- and 4-star rating (of course, also in comparison to other restaurants we know) and decided on this rating because of the wait time, the value for money, and the somewhat impersonal atmosphere. The food is generally delicious, so everyone should definitely try this concept in Bonn 's Südstadt district.
