Feedback
Nestled in Bloomington, this upscale cocktail bar offers a trendy atmosphere complemented by an extensive drink selection. While the cocktails are consistently praised, opinions on the food are mixed. Diners have noted that despite flavorful options, some dishes fall short of expectations, especially given the high prices. Service quality varies significantly, with some guests experiencing attentive waitstaff while others encounter neglect. The ambiance shines, particularly in winter with charming decor. Overall, the establishment seems to excel in beverages and atmosphere, but may leave food aficionados seeking alternatives for a more satisfying culinary experience.
The food was decent but pricier than it should have been. The duck had a great texture, but the sauce fell short compared to what I've had at other establishments, like Siam House. The portion of duck was also smaller than I expected. On the positive side, the fish was tasty, and I would recommend it. The burger, priced at $20 with fries, was rather uninspiring. While the seasoning on the burger was good, the bun and toppings made it feel like a homemade meal with ingredients from the grocery store. You can find a much better and more memorable burger for less at Bru. The fries, however, were excellent, made from hand-cut potatoes with the skin on, perfectly crispy, warm, and well-seasoned. For dessert, I had the butterscotch option based on the server’s recommendation, and it was enjoyable. I didn’t try any drinks, but the drink selection seemed extensive, which might be the main reason to visit this place. If I return, it would likely be for drinks, not food. Overall, the bill exceeded $100, including a generous tip. It was a pleasant evening on a quiet Monday, but I felt it was more expensive than it was worth.
The food was quite mediocre and lacked flavor, especially considering the high prices. There were only about eight main dish options plus two specials. They market themselves as a cocktail bar, but the three cocktails we tried were poorly balanced. The interior has a basic modern style and feels cramped. There are definitely better places to spend your money in Bloomington. Service: Dine-in.
Cocktails were excellent with some new to me combinations. Service was adequate and friendly, but did not inform us of beverage or food of the day. The food was very disappointing. My one word to describe entree is blah. No seasoning, no flavor, temperature was lukewarm, even the whipped cream on the dessert had no taste. I would go back for drinks, but I probably would not order food. Service: Dine in
