**Dining at Hampton Winds: A Mixed Experience** Hampton Winds offers a varied culinary experience, praised for its friendly service and enjoyable environment. Many guests appreciate the unique dishes, especially the standout harissa-glazed shrimp and rich desserts like the Take 5 chocolate lava cake. However, recent visits have highlighted inconsistencies, including lukewarm food and a limited menu due to staffing challenges. While the ambiance is generally welcoming, some diners feel the updated decor lacks warmth and intimacy. Despite these critiques, patrons recognize the restaurant's potential as a teaching establishment run by culinary students, fostering a desire to return and support their journey.
At my request, my family of four celebrated my birthday at this restaurant on a Wednesday evening. None of us had dined here before, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Everything exceeded my expectations! We were pleasantly surprised by the amuse bouche—a delightful one-bite Reuben-style sandwich that was simply delicious. My grilled lamb served with sautéed vegetables was a fantastic savory combination, and the presentation of my rich birthday tiramisu was phenomenal. The standout dish of the night, however, was my harissa-glazed shrimp appetizer, which offered a burst of intriguing flavors in every bite. Throughout our meal, we enjoyed exceptional service; our server was friendly and eager to answer all our questions. Overall, Hampton Winds is truly a gem!
We have dined at Hampton Winds several times and have always been quite pleased, but our most recent visit was a significant letdown. All of our food was only lukewarm when it arrived at the table. Additionally, my son's cappuccino came out late and was cold!
Enjoyed lunch at Hampton Winds. Although the entire meal was enjoyable, the homemade chips were quite tasty. Good menu selection. Service was excellent! Make sure to try the desserts you won't be disappointed! The Take 5 chocolate lava cake was a mixture of all the best-Chocolate cake with peanut butter inside. On the outside, caramel sauce with candied pretzel peanut crumble and topped with homemade vanilla ice cream. Delicious!
