fine restaurant in the old town bern. good place for a business lunch. they have a small but fine menu with daily changing food. all dishes were delicious, but rather small portions (nouvelle cuisine style.) this place offers more to the gourmet than the gourmand. friendly and professional service. the restaurant is small so that reservations are recommended. do not miss the elegant covered courtyard in the back. I've been trying for years to get a table in the inner sanctum, but somehow I'm not really dressed for the political and banking masters that feed here during the week. the winter garden is comfortable, eating is good; but it is something that holds in my crooks that I still do not have a place in the inner sanctum to lunch on a normal weekday, for six years. I had the pleasure of dining at the outside for a good 12 years, and I still have to be disappointed by an aspekt. eating is excellent, the service is always beautiful and very on earth, and even the prices are very fair for Swiss standards. I can especially recommend the new year Eve dinner, it is a leak for body and soul.

The place is very formal and the service supplements the atmosphere. I came with a flannel shirt and felt out of place. I had a free pumpkin soup followed by the main course rehpfeffer. the dish was uniquely tasteful and I washed it with her recommendation of smooth and sweet Swiss pinot noir. overall it was a good lunch experience. they could work on the interieur that I felt pretty dirty for a fine restaurant.
Went here because of the Michelin ratings. Really enjoyed the flavors and the ingenuity with the food. But service was horrible, its not what I would have expected for a highly rated place.
