What Will H dislikes about Filafood:
It's a really small nice little place, wouldn't exactly call it a restaurant as its mostly pierogis. Don't get me wrong the food is good, just was unexpectedly small in building size and food options size. The prices are great though. 5 euro for 7 pierogis, deliciously made right there. Can also buy some polish beer here as well. View all feedback.
Simple and scrumptious dumplings for the fall weather are in my belly. What a lovely treat to have. The portions are just the right amount, and I say this as a big eater. I went here for lunch and had the sauerkraut with mushroom ones, since I know that sauerkraut is a bit more light and was on the lookout for something vegetarian. Served with a simple garnish of lettuce and a few sprigs of pan fried onions on top, the richness and fullness of flavor of the food was able to shine. It tasted fresh, like from Grandma's house if she were Polish. I also tried the buckheat ones from my friend. I can't wait to go back and try these next! Cheap and filling. Quality and geschmack!
Small, nice, friendly place serving Polish style food. Tasty, clean and with fair prices. Not far away from my current flat and I sometimes check what's new.
When we requested a menu in English, the waiter was forced to rummage around in a drawer looking for one. He then had the confusing job of figuring out what we were ordering as the menu was written in English only, not German also. This was all very entertaining. He then retired to the kitchen to prepare our meal and emerged later with unbelievably good meatballs and dumplings, washed down with Polish beer. We also had sweet dumplings after and couldn't finish them we were so full. All of this cost about €25 for 2. Really cool artwork on the walls too. Can't recommend it enough!
Cozy tiny little owner run Polish bistro! You get several choices of homemade wheat pierogi, interestingly mostly vegetarian even though the owner himself prefers the ones with meat. The small menu consists of classics with sourkraut, mushrooms, potatoes, one choice with meat but also with spinach and cheese or even sweet ones with apple filling. The pierogi are alright of taste, a little bit doughy and unfortunately rubbery and not flavorful enough for my taste. You get 7 pc pierogi for 5-7€ wich is very fair. Besides that you get a soup of a day (3,50€ , baguettes (4€ , meat stew and a standard choice of hot and cold drinks (Latte Macchiato 2,50€, lemonades, Polish beer and vodka . And there is usually a choice of homemade cake or pastry (large piece of creamy baked cheese cake for 2,50€! . The whole place is very clean, the owner is a polish guy and friendly. There are about 12 seats on three tables. Only three stars for the food! The forth star is only for the small owner run concept which I always find supportive.
Let me get this out of the way: This is easily the best polish food you can get in Berlin. Filafood is a cozy (yes, small) place that seats about a dozen people or so. It is painted in predominantly red and white colors, without being overbearingly polish about it. It is filled with great, modern polish poster artworks and some pictures of the owner with camera crews and polish celebrities. The menu is rather small, with a heavy focus on pierogi, which I find refreshing. The pierogis are great. They are as close as you could get to original polish pierogis as they were served 15-20 years ago back in the old country. Do yourself a favor and try the meat pierogis with some skwarkis (bacon). The other dishes are good to very good as well, especially the goulash. As the owner is a pastry chef by trade, give his cakes a chance as well. I know he doesn 't serve it regularly anymore, but his Snikers cake is probably the best desert/cake I have ever eaten. I even had him make me some for my wedding. Ask him for it and tell him Gutek sent you. Last but not least, the place is cheap. You can have a full dinner for two people for around 15€. It 's ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. It is a hidden gem.
