Hi, Just back from a few days in Barcelona. After visiting the Sagrada Familia we were heading up towards Park Guell. We wanted to get a bit away from the Sagrada before we looked for a lunch spot. We then walked past Gor Fla restaurant. We didn't notice the name, it was the display of cakes in the window. Thinking about a carryout sandwich we stepped inside and saw an English menu for what looked like a set lunch. There were lots of local workers inside having lunch. I think we were the only tourists. It was quite a bit of hustle and bustle, but a waitress took us through to a larger dining area and so it started. Sliced bread on the table with a tomato sauce, then two courses from the menu. I thought Tapas size, no, these were more or less full sized plates. After pasta with mince bolognaise I then had beef medallions with veg and roast potatoes. Then a dessert and coffee. All for 13.60 Euros. It was all good hearty food, but the quantities were too much for us. If you've got a big appetite, it's great. We loved just being in somewhere authentic, while local office workers etc had their lunch. I'd need a snooze in the office if I ate that every day. So good value for money. All cooked on the premises and to a good standard. Waitresses do their best with limited English. You'll soon walk it off round Barcelona. Give it a try.
We took our breakfast every day in this very nice cafe. The stuff was nice and friendly. the sandwiches were great. The pastry is incredible good.
Gor y Fla restaurant is close to the Sagra Familia and has amazing pastry. But also tapas, sandwiches, pizza's and specials. We had the paella as a special and we liked it. The food is good and quite inexpensive. Its worth visiting.
If you’re walking along Calle de Provença on your way to (or from) the world famous La Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona, the fabulous window display of goodies at Gor fla will probably catch your eye. It’s one of the most stunning arrays of baked goods in all of Spain! Unfortunately, the appearance doesn’t match the product. The beautifully decorated cookies turn out to be as dry as a brick. Cookies should either be chewy or crumbly, never the consistency of chalk. The cinnamon rolls that look equally enticing are also dry. The cream cheese icing is impeccable, as is the flavor of the dough, but the consistency is just so incredibly dry. This cute little space with an amazing display was a huge letdown once we tasted the food.
