Tides has been under new management for about a month now. My family and I often visit the village and have friends here. The new owners have taken charge of all inspections and are currently updating the menu with fresh ideas, prioritizing customer satisfaction. What Anonym dislikes about Tides:
Tides is a very small restaurant with slow service and does not offer authentic Asian cuisine. It feels more like a typical Chinese takeout spot. The food is average, unhealthy Chinese takeout-style dishes, and the prices are quite high. I wouldn’t recommend dining here. View all feedback.
Tides brings back memories of the classic diner from Home and Away years ago. The food is flavorful and reasonably priced. The charming decor and stunning views of the beautiful seaside town of Ballyheigue, seen from the top of the street near Ballyheigue Castle entrance, make it a wonderful spot.
Delightful homemade dishes, welcoming staff, and fair prices. It can feel a bit cramped when busy, but if you manage to snag a table outside on a sunny day, the stunning views are well worth it.
The previous reviews pertain to a restaurant under different ownership. This is a Chinese restaurant, not the one mentioned earlier, and it’s definitely the worst ethnic restaurant I’ve encountered in Ireland. We dined in with a few other customers and also noticed takeaways. The chili squid starter was passable—maybe a 5 out of 10. We ordered the Thai red prawn and Thai green prawn curries, but what arrived was terrible. The red curry bowl had three large scoops of red curry paste from a jar sitting on top, clearly unmixed by the cook who seemed untrained or unaware of how it should be prepared. It was unpleasant, to say the least. The green curry was even worse, resembling and tasting like a messy sludge. This place seems to be improvising in a tourist-heavy area with little to no experience. After moving the paste aside, the dish was still inedible, so we called the waiter, who wasn’t surprised and handled the situation professionally by waiving the payment. We left still hungry. An awful, chaotic experience—avoid this place.
Cycling group stopped for coffee break. Freshly baked scones with teas/coffees. Friendly staff served with a smile. Well done
