We arrived at 12:40 on a Saturday in late May, we were only the second car in the car park so expected to be able to have lunch. An extremely rude receptionist told us that in France one arrives for lunch before 12:30 so there...was no chance of lunch! It was obvious that the real reason for the lack of lunch was that the restaurant was obviously catering for a coach party, we did not appreciate either her manner or the lack of truth. The garden is peaceful but we were disappointed by the rose garden , in England it would have been described as no more than a rose bed. Think there are probably some interesting walks in the area so we may return but we will ensure that we have lunch in one of the nearby villages. Our main memory of our visit to the gardens will be the extreme rudeness of the only staff member we encountered
We visited the restaurant at the recommendation of a local and what a find. The food was incredible and beautifully presented, the location delightful and the service fantastic (attentive, informative but unobtrusive) it is now up there with my favourite restaurants. Superb. We will...be back!!!
What else there is to say that has not been said already; magnificent location with sea view, stylish restaurant with much space between tables. we were surprised that a salt and pepper wolf was brought to the table after the order. does the chef really believe that this could be necessary? they were not everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. the waiting staff were friendly, knowledgeable and unobtrusive only to slide around! now we had ordered the fish for our main course. it was merlu (hake.) it was a generous cut of fishing (a highest? . it was not a whole fish. Therefore, in the 21st century, they still take restaurants the standard dinner knife and replace it with a fish filling knife if no filling is required. inappropriate. anyway, excellent cheeseboard, beautiful desserts and a good selection of wines from both the bottle and glass.
My wife and I took a friend for her 80th birthday contract; and we could not have chosen a better place for a special meal. we all had kir royal aperitif, followed by the plat du jour, which was great worth for money. we got. a little lazy hearty tar, while we waited for the meal. we started with a delicious homemade mushroom soup and fresh broth rolls. then chicken breast en croute beautiful herby brotkruste) with fluffy rice and a tangy wseet and sour sauce not too sweet) and it was excellent. followed by a rhabarb and crispy mouse that was unusual and very tasty. our birthday child prefers white wine not too dry and we chose a bottle gascogne wein, which is nicely cooled and just for the meal. then coffee. the service was excellent. the restaurant itself is a beautifully renovated shade with huge Cantou fireplace with beautiful burning log fire. all together it was just over a hundred euro.
The restaurant is part of the garden complex. the gardens themselves are worth a visit either before or after the meal. we sat on the terrace on a wonderful day with views of the small lake and in a very quiet environment. the restaurant has not many. and we had luck to turn on the gardens and reserve the last free table for lunch service. we had a lot of meals. my wife had the three cure menu du jour a charcuterie followed by bark meat and apple cake. my daughter had the menu that was an excellent chicken wing with linguine and tomato sauce. it followed a chocolate cake. I had the calf and cream brûlée. the whole food was excellent and the service was error-free. it can be a challenge to find for some, but it is worth the effort to recommend in any case.
