This morning before heading home, I visited a lovely restaurant. The owner is a beautiful lady, and the breakfast roll I had was excellent. As a bonus, there were some adorable dogs to entertain us while we waited! View all feedback.
What Lina Zelskyte dislikes about Java Walk Coffee Shop:
During our initial visit to this restaurant, we were quite excited. However, upon arrival, I was attended to by the owner, who, as she introduced herself, had a demeanor that I found unwelcoming. Additionally, I felt a bit hurried throughout the experience. On a positive note, the chef who brought out my order was delightful and incredibly friendly. View all feedback.
I returned to the counter and explained to the woman who was serving—who I later learned was the owner—that my order was incorrect. She insisted that the drinks were right and even showed me a coffee chart to justify her stance. Despite her training, I couldn't see any foam on the drinks unless it was incredibly subtle. After some reluctance, she began to prepare new ones, but her attitude and rudeness became too much for me, and I ultimately requested a refund instead. I remained polite throughout the exchange, but as I was leaving, she sarcastically told me to enjoy, clearly not in a friendly manner, but rather to escalate the situation. As a local, I won’t be returning to Java, which is disappointing because the location is great. If you're looking for good coffee and decent service, I recommend Coast Coffee at the other end of the promenade or The Salty Bean in Sandbank, across from the Western ferries. You might even find better coffee and service from the Costa coffee machine at the petrol station.
I have two children—one in high school and the other in elementary school. Last week, my wife had a day off from her job at Walkers, so we decided to treat ourselves to some coffee by the waterfront. We brought our dog along and ordered a latte for my wife and a tea for myself. It was a bit pricey, but we enjoyed it! After strolling around Kirn with our dog and drinks for a little while, we headed back home. I'm not really a coffee person, but they had a nice variety of coffees to choose from. Next time we have a day off together, we might bring the kids too since I noticed they also sell ice cream.
The food at this restaurant is generally good, and the staff are often helpful. However, my experience yesterday was disappointing. I waited outside for 25 minutes, only to be told at the front of the line that they were no longer taking orders and I would not be served. The service was quite slow, with only one customer being attended to at a time. It would have been beneficial if the staff had acknowledged the growing queue outside and informed us that we would not be served by the time we reached the front. After waiting from 3:25 to 3:50, we were ultimately turned away as it was close to closing time.
This wee place is very cramped and the outside seating is a joke, sorry but the coffee is not good either!
I called in on a sunny, but chilly day. The coffee shop is tiny, but very quaint. The lady behind the counter was friendly, and the prices seem very reasonable. I had a bacon roll and a cup of tea. The roll was full of crispy bacon and the tea nice and strong. There were various puzzles, and gift items for sale. My favourite part was when an elderly man came in with his huge dog. They were both given a warm welcome, and a bowl of water was provided for the dog. It all added to the warm and relaxed atmosphere. I passed by later on and another man was there with his large dog. I am sorry that I only found this little gem on the last day of my holiday.
