I had no idea this restaurant was located in the Disneyland hotel—wish I had known that beforehand. My husband and I were looking for an adults-only experience since we didn't have our kids with us, but we ended up in a place filled with children. That’s on me for not doing my research. Larry ordered the Rams, and I initially got the Cheeseburger but ended up switching to Ramen. Wow, this might be the best ramen I’ve ever had! I was genuinely surprised, even for a Disney spot. It had just the right amount of spice—not too overwhelming, but with a nice kick. It was fantastic!
The food, however, can be hit or miss. Some days it’s excellent, while other days it falls short. For instance, I had a delicious Hawaiian plate a few weeks ago; the meat was tender and perfectly marinated. But last week, I was disappointed when the meat was tough and looked like it had just been splashed with teriyaki sauce before being served. The service is outstanding, with bartenders and servers who are very attentive. Orders are promptly served, which is important since guests have a strict 90-minute time limit to experience everything Trader Sam's has to offer! The main draw for us is the atmosphere, especially in the bar area (the terrace is nice, but the bar is where the magic happens). Disney really outdid themselves with the interior design, creating an enchanting experience that rivals any ride in the park. From animatronic effects like a ship in a bottle (triggered by ordering a shipwreck drink) to a view of an erupting volcano (when you order the Uh-oa bowl), Disney made sure the bar is truly interactive! There are even stools that shrink when you’re not paying attention! The bar is decorated with memorabilia from Jungle Cruise, Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Enchanted Tiki Room, and Up, adding to the whimsical atmosphere. Plus, in the evenings, there’s usually live entertainment from a duo performing Hawaiian music, which we thoroughly enjoyed last October when they sang their rendition of "999 Happy Haunts," earning a standing ovation from everyone on the terrace! Despite some inconsistencies in food quality, we always look forward to our visits to Trader Sam's. So make sure to stop by, order your favorite drink, raise your glass, and toast, Kungaloosh!!!
The atmosphere is quite amusing and the drinks have a unique flair. It's definitely a fun spot. However, we were disappointed to find out that there were no heated duck dishes available due to a gas issue. We didn’t receive any prior notification via email or the app, which was disappointing. We probably would have still come for the drinks, but we were really hungry. The salads were tasty, but we had enjoyed our previous visit more. Overall, it was a nice stop.
I was very hungry after travelling all day to attend my work conference at the Disneyland Hotel. The front desk mentioned their only onsite restaurant was Trader Sam's and it might worth checking out instead of heading to downtown Disney. I didn't have areservation but they were able to get me in to the bar. I think that was lucky because on subsequent days they were bookedevery time. I'd recommend downloading the Disney app to get a reservation in the future rather than trying blind luck like Idid. The bar itself isn't very large but the tiki atmosphere is quite fun. There is so much detail with a plethora of knicknacks on the walls and ceilings that you will likely see something you missed if you stare at the same spot twice. The menu isthe same as the outdoor seating/grab and go area. However when you sit in here you feel like you are in a magic tiki islandhut, with wonderful AC I might add. Also, during your meal the servers will act/interact with you. Like there was a hurricaneand volcano eruption while I was there. One of the servers had a small spray bottle they would squirt into the air as to mimicus getting rained. Definitely some Disney magical fun going on here. The food is tasty and probably the best I had on my stay. Downtown Disney had some good options but I didn't feel they were as fresh or tasty as Trader Sam's. It isn't michelin starquality but good enough I ate here twice. I recommend the Salmon Ahi Bowl. Good sized portion and fairly priced for aresort. Overall it was a fun place to get a bite and take a break from the crazy covid world.
Such a beautiful restaurant right next to the pool at Disneyland Hotel. Alisha was our server and she made us feel so welcome ???? She provided us with excellent customer service. Loved her personality!!! ?? She?s so down to earth, welcoming andfriendly. My family and I loved that about her. She also went out of her way to pack our souvenir mugs. Which was so freakingawesome of her to do! She deserves employee of the year!!! Please acknowledge her work ethics! Will definitely return because ofAlisha! Also, The food was hella good and the cocktails were amazing!!! ???? Shoutout to the cooks and bartenders! Thank youagain Alisha!!!
