We arrived at 5 o'clock, when the restaurant opened for the evening, and were seated immediately with a high chair for our child. The outdoor terrace had adjustable screens for sun protection, which was great for kids who had been in the sun all day at the beach. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely, but the prices are very high. I ordered the upper leg and rice dish, while my companion had the steak. We also had two drinks, which brought the total bill to $200, including the cost of drinks. The server offered us more bread because they didn't provide enough at no additional charge. Surprisingly unprepared for simple food allergies and staff unhelpful. Tried to call several times before our reservation to talk through our allergies but no one ever answered the phone. Once at the restaurant, wait staff not helpful or knowledgeable. Example: Claimed that the vegan Mac and Cheese contained egg. The citizen in the past was always a spot I’d be willing to go but after my most recent visit in July I’d have to say it is a strong pass. The appetizers were all great but the entrees were inedible and terrible executed. I got the eggplant entree and could only get a few bites downI have no idea why this is even an entree option here. Rice was over cooked and the eggplant was just horribly over sweetened. The short rib entree was a miss as well.
We stopped in here for late afternoon cocktails and appetizers this week just taking a chance wow! We were all so impressed with the quality of the creative appetizers all were delicious especially the Calabrian shrimp and feta dip selections but what was even more impressive was the attentive staff The manager Langdon and our server Jason were top notch extremely professional and accommodating to our demanding group! We have recommended to all we have come into contact with during our visit and look forward to returning again! Thank you!
During a weekend holiday with family we had dinner at The Citizen, I ordered the Coq au Vin and it was delicious. Service was on point by our server and the manager checked on us a couple of times too.
