Red Snapper Cafe is my favorite Jamaican restaurant in Durham. The food is delicious, with just the right amount of spice. The flavors are authentic, and the Curry Goat is the best I've had in the GTA. The staff is friendly and while my expectations for customer service in the Caribbean aren't high, they still exceed them. I always order the fried chicken, which is a must-try. My chicken was cold, as if it had been sitting out for hours even though I arrived at noon. The side dish I ordered was also cold and seemed to have been fried in the same oil as all the other dishes in the restaurant. The only saving grace was the rice and salad, which were decent.
I regret giving this place a chance and will not be returning or recommending it to others. The service was subpar at best. View all feedback.
Was sick and I wanted to buy some food from Maimana rest in Ajax, why because their food is always fresh. My husband was at RED Snapper because their food is always good. For some reason Caribbean restaurants have a reputation of sometimes selling old RICE and watered down soups!!! So was my Rice and peas for this restaurant on Tuesday when I was sick. Interestingly enough my husband ate in and the food was good but the take out rice and peas was old & nasty. Someone should be fired for this as I am tired of giving these rest a second and third chance. Good as they may be, they failed. I was sick for 3 days and it was a painful experience after surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!! How cheap is rice?? Tried calling no answer!! Thought I would get chicken, rice with veggies, I got Chicken, rice & peas and macaroni..who does that?? Perfect for a heart attack. I would have felt better if my husband said they were out of food. Sorry ladies, I have to vent.
My favourite carribean place in the Toronto area.....I had jerk chicken and my boy had mama's fried chicken....
The food was delicious. We did not stay and eat. We had take out only. Jerk chicken dinner and the escovitch fish. Worth every penny.
