The Chashu Ramen for 850 yen at this diner is delicious with a deep flavor soup that includes dried ingredients. The medium-thin, flat handmade noodles are very enjoyable to slurp up. The thick and smoky six slices of pork chashu provide a satisfying bite. This diner, bustling with local customers, serves up some tasty dishes. View all feedback.
Visited in April 2021. The 600 yen ramen had delicious soup, truly representing Shirakawa ramen! The hand-made noodles were also chewy, and seemed to be very filling. The chashu had a charcoal flavor and was delicious. If the chashu ramen were 800 yen, I would have been able to eat more chashu. There is a slightly heavy amount of oil, so it can be eaten hot. The miso tanmen and shio tanmen are 700 yen, and they come in large portions that seem like they could overflow from the bowl, so opting for a large size is not necessary (large size +150 yen). There are many table seats, and because they also run a boarding house, students occasionally come in to eat. They also offer takeout services.
Located a little east of Yabuki Town Route 4, there is a ryokan and restaurant called Myoken Shokudo. The restaurant is spacious and offers a wide variety of menu items, including noodles and set meals. Of course, the shoyu ramen here is of the Shirakawa style. The image shows a bowl of chashu wonton ramen, ramen with fried rice, and gyoza. It has been over 20 years since I first tried Shirakawa ramen. The taste of this Shirakawa ramen takes me back to that time when I was obsessed with Shirakawa. The noodles are hand-made and have a satisfying texture, while the chashu is tender and has a smoky flavor. The wonton is delicious with a hint of ginger, and the gyoza is generously filled with flavorful ingredients. The prices are reasonable, making it a great value. Although I have yet to try the set meals, the Shirakawa ramen here truly hits the spot for me. It brings back the nostalgic taste of Shirakawa ramen that I love.
