The food overall is delicious. However, it was tough for non-smokers because smoking is allowed inside the restaurant. Also, when we ordered large dishes, we weren't given plates or chopsticks unless we asked for them. The kitchen staff were not wearing masks and were talking loudly while preparing the food. I was taken by a business associate and visited on a Saturday, but the restaurant was full and the atmosphere inside was lively. Unfortunately, I didn't have any pictures of the dishes because it was a work event, but the food was extremely delicious! I was surprised by the yakitori - it was huge! I highly recommend the liver! The grilling was perfect and the texture was melt-in-your-mouth! We ordered a variety of dishes and all of them were excellent - no disappointments! The restaurant was full and lively, creating a fun atmosphere. The service was good - it took a bit of time for the food to come after ordering, but the staff were polite and cheerful. The dishes were all delicious, to the point where I wondered if this was a countryside-style restaurant. Overall, if I have the chance to visit Ihara City again, I would definitely want to stop by this izakaya.
I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. I love the light and delicious chicken karaage and yam steak. I only order the karaage at this restaurant, Gonbee. The yam steak, which I tried for the first time at Gonbee, has become a favorite of mine, and I have ordered it at other restaurants, but Gonbee's is the best. The menu has changed over the years, and I still prefer the way it tasted when I first tried it. Other menu items are also cheap and delicious!
