Very friendly and accommodating restaurant, with a very good selection of vegan options. We shared 3 curries, which were a dansak, rogan josh and dopiaza, with boiled rice and chapatis. Each dish had such depth in flavour and were spiced really well, but if you are averse to heat, you may wish to ask for your curry to be made mild. Even the dansak was spicy and I'm pretty sure it had naga chillies in! Great meal over... View all feedback.
What Thomas Ross doesn't like about The Raj:
Eating was okay, but very small portions. The bill was wrong and the owner gave the mistakes to the young waiter, although he actually prepared the bill! Keep a copy of the menu and double check your bill as others had the same problem! View all feedback.
This could only be our own dislike, but we have tried this restaurant a few years and really enjoyed it, so we thought we would go back! the dishes themselves were delicious. I had the flower cabbage bhaji as a supplement and the vegan dansak for pornstar. both were really nice, but the main thing was really hot. please try this place if they like spicy eating, since all the staff are really friendly and that is wonderful! or ask them if there are any dishes that are mild, what I did not when I thought the dansak would not be. they have a good choice of vegan options and each of them can be made into a starter, but there are no dessert options. they can do something when they ask.
Friendly little Indian restaurant right in front of the city walls. wide menu, including a separate vegan section with 15 netzen. everything we tried was very good. the staff are friendly and able to advise what can be made on the menu vegan on request.
I just came back from a great meal in raj. nice, polite staff. has made us a starter that was not on the menu. large portions, had to go home. very tasty. will be back!
If they are looking for the best Indian cuisine in york, this is undoubtedly the place to go! great staff, very helpful and friendly. extremely attentive and understand when it comes to my allergy. highly recommended!
My favourite in town! the pub itself is a shady, in a city with 365 kneips its easy for them all to be mixed and forgotten, but not this! the interior design is welcoming and has the traditional pub feeling that embraces it and welcomes it for a drink. the beer garden is "the longest in york" and too right it is massive. there are many tables and sunshades to protect themselves from the sun, and sit and drink. the personal was the best, each and each of them. While I didn't catch all their names, they all tried to welcome me, a chat at the bar and wished us at the end of the night something good that they didn't get very often in these days. the manager was excellent, they can say their passion for the trade, and their willingness to go beyond and beyond to make their stay as good as possible. the selection of frightened beer, apple wines and ales is brilliant, with something for everyone and their "cocktail of the day" is always something new, different and delicious! I visited here several times during my visit to york and came back for the above reasons and planned to go back to my next visit in the city. I cannot thank the employees enough for their efforts and wish them every success.
