Royal - YARRAMAN

I better leave a review before we leave town, we called into the Royal last night with my wife after looking at some properties in the area. When we arrived we were greeted by a very pleasant barmaid. We ordered 5 rounds of drinks in total and it’s the first time in a while we have attended a pub where the barmaid remembered our drink order. Our meals arrived and they were absolutely amazing a real compliment to the chef. Despite it being a rather busy night the wait time was minimal and serving size was large... There was a good music selection playing in the bar which was a bonus but I we did notice there were a heap of kids out in what appeared to be the back dining room and beer garden past the TAB area which we were advised on our arrival that this was a restricted area and no access was allowed by a couple who were leaving as we arrived. The kids seemed to be left to their own devices and they were running around like crazy (kids will be kids I guess). One of them ran into the barmaid when she was delivering meals which almost ended up with her wearing the meal or landing on the ground. Thankfully this wasn’t the case…….. I did also hear the barmaid ask the children nicely a number of times (about 5) not to run through the main bar area and to get down from the bar stools, however this was ignored on every occasion. My only suggestion would be for a family friendly pub is to perhaps have a designated area for young children so this isn’t an issue as most patrons last night did pass comment about the children running around in the bar area. We will be doing the BVRT in a few weeks with our adult children and grandchildren and will be stopping in again. Thanks for having us and see you again soon. Cheers Derek and Veronica.

Lost one star for the very slow bar service. Booked the bus from the caravan park but the lady didn't note it in the book. After the owner was contacted she picked us up. The bar service was slow due to only one person having to deal with everyone and our glasses lay empty for about 15 minutes and we were only served after another patron pointed out how long we had been waiting. We ordered the burger and it was fantastic. I asked the owner when the last bus was and she replied as soon as your finished she would drop us off. I would have given this 3 stars but for the owner and the burger forced a 4.
