Came here during lunch time and ordered the Charcoal Chicken Gua Bao and the Braised Pork Mince on Rice! The Gua Bao consisted of sliced cucumbers, lettuce and two massive pieces of the charcoal chicken! The chicken was juicy, had sesame seeds and a taste of honey! The Braised Pork Mince on Rice was really delicious! The rice was cooked nicely, had sliced veges, pork mince and a boiled egg! Recommend this small snack... View all feedback.
This place is seriously good. Really nice people as well!
I have only been here twice (it's shame that I only discovered this place last week).<br/ <br/ Baised pork mince rice and charcoal grilled XL chicken tasted pretty authentic. Portions were decent for the price.<br/ <br/ Braised pork mince rice:4/5<br/ charcoal grilled chicken: 4.5/5<br/ <br/ Black sugar pearl milk tea: 3/5<br/ It's a little pricey for a medium sized drink. The sugar wasn't as aromatic as one would expect.<br/ <br/ Overall, I would recommend this place if you are looking for some authentic Taiwanese street foods!<br/ <br/
New to Newmarket village, this place also double up with a asian grocer shop as well. Had the charcoal chook on rice and not bad for 12 half bucks and quite a generous serving too even included a preserved soy sauce egg too would u believe. The chook skin was abit fried harden to da bite for me.
The eatery is situated within an Asian grocery store but it's right up the front so you won't miss it.<br/ <br/ Seating are bar tables and stools. Food and drinks are served in takeaway boxes/cups regardless of whether you are eating in or taking away.<br/ <br/ Now onto the food! I had the traditional gua bao and it was absolutely delicious. The bun was soft and meat was so tender it melted in your mouth. I would have ordered 2 of these except at $9 each, it's a bit pricey.<br/ <br/ On my second trip I ordered the braised pork mince on rice with milk tea combo. This is good value at $13. The meat was very tender and juicy with the right amount of rice and they had an egg and seaweed salad to go with the meal. The milk tea is just nice, not too sweet and pearls were soft.<br/ <br/ I don't have a picture of the gua bao because I'd devoured it before remembering to take a picture. You'll just have to try it for yourself.
Got the charcoal and the hot and spicy, both were delicious! To charcoal the chicken they put the chicken on an open flame so maybe they would charcoal a hot and spicy so you could have best of both worlds, may ask next time. My charcoal chicken was a little under salted and I couldn't really taste the special honey sauce, but the charcoal was really good.
