Had lunch here with the extended family to celebrate Mother’s Day. It’s a small pub with garden car park at rear. Given the day the place was very busy although run off their feet the staff were very friendly, service was a bit slow though. Food on the whole was good although one main course had to go back as the beef was undercooked. No major problems though, so nice food, rebellion beers friendly staff it’s worth p... The staff is very friendly and the food selection is excellent. Chef Emily is cheerful and pleasant. They are dog friendly and I highly recommend this place. It feels like a home away from home.
We had a wonderful dining experience at The Black Lion. I called ahead as three of us are vegan, to inquire about meal options. The lady on the phone was very kind and assured us that the chef could prepare a vegan version of any meal on the menu. We chose our main dishes, but upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by the additional vegan options they had prepared for us, including vegan mayo and a vegan crumble for dessert. They even gave us vegan chocolates with the bill. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we felt very welcomed. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We recently revisited this fantastic hidden gem after a few years and were delighted to find that it is now under new management. The experience was like entering a whole new world! The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the menu is extensive. The wine list offers some great choices at a good value. We highly recommend attending the Thursday quiz night. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
We have now been here twice for a Sunday roast and both times we were greeted warmly, given attentive but not overbearing service and treated to such wonderful food. The portions are ample but can also be boosted with the addition of side orders, the cauliflower cheese was a hit with us all. Dessert selection catered to all tastes but sticky toffee pudding was the clear winner for us. We certainly can’t wait to come back and introduce friends
Apart from the atmosphere here, created by Glenn, Mike and all the staff it is a great place to spend an evening or indeed have a Sunday lunch. The food is truly awesome I have had quite a few meals here now and everyone is a delight to the pallet. I always leave feeling special, a great pub.
