Despite limited ice cream flavors, the staff was helpful. However, the lack of supervision in play areas led to incidents, and the pricing felt steep for the experience. A negative interaction with staff left a bad impression, but the cafe itself was decent. Inconsistencies in customer service were noted, but the overall experience was mixed. The ice cream quality fell short of expectations, but the service was a mixed bag with some positive encounters.
The facility has potential but is currently appalling. Arranged to meet friend with her daughter (aged 3) Went into initial cafe which only had 2tables occupied staff (4) were pleasant but talking amongst themselves. Went through to check if friend had gone through payment area confronted by lady who persisted in saying her rote learnt …”have you booked, etc etc’ I repeatedly tried to politely interrupt to say I was just looking for my friend. This mature member of staff lacked any Emotional Intelligence. She repeated this protracted ‘rote learnt’ sales pitch when I eventually paid to enter. Fairy Trail, is exactly same as every Trail be it Halloween, Christmas, Easter so if you’ve been once, don’t bother going again. Design of trail and clues demonstrated lack of understanding of young children’s cognitive skills or general development. It got worse, when we went back to cafe food menu very poor and limited asked if they could do Beans on Toast Girl on Till (4staff present) said, “No”, I asked why, she said “People have asked before, the Kitchen says No”! To be honest, you don’t even need a kitchen a toaster and a microwave would suffice. Essentially, a ‘couldn’t care less’ attitude. Lots of slip hazards, unnecessary mats and hazards around facilities supposedly designed for young children. Lots of staff, poor training, not visible in key areas of activities.
A day out at the farm. The staff did not intervene when two eight-year-olds ran into the baby and toddler soft play area and knocked over the little ones. There were no sandwiches or affordable wraps available for under £10, so we ended up having chips for lunch. We spent a few hours there, but it felt quite expensive for what we got. The new play area was lovely, but it already had some graffiti from tweens on it. They should have more staff monitoring the play areas as the zip line was also being misused.
The ice cream was at best mediocre and grossly overprice. In addition the gentleman, although there was nothing gentlemanly about his behaviour, taking orders and card payments would benefit from some intensive customer service skills training. However the young lady with long blond hoar actually serving the ice cream was delight and extremely helpful.
Do not waste your money at this restaurant. It cost us £57 for 3 children and 2 adults to visit Santa. Santa was great and the gifts were good. The circus men outside were amazing and the kids loved every second. However, when we went to get food, burgers were priced at £9.95 each. The quality seemed low, like economy burgers from a wholesaler priced at £10 for a box. As a former burger van owner, I refused to pay that after already paying the entry fee. The staff on the van were rude and the manager who let us in seemed uninterested in welcoming families. The fire pit was small and did not meet Covid regulations, as neither staff nor customers wore masks. Overall, the experience was disorganised and not worth the money. Thankfully, my children did not notice.
Came for a family breakfast, and had the farmers breakfast basically a full English). The menu included a smaller version, breakfast baps, and what looked like a couple of decent veggie options. At £8.95 I was expecting a treat but in reality it was a very basic, fairly uninspired offering. The sausage was ok but on the dry side, the bacon was cold, and just a single hash brown. For the price, I would've expected maybe some fried bread or mushrooms or something else. It was ok, but not good value when nearby pubs do a much more hearty breakfast for less money. Most disappointing was the coffee a very weak Americano and a flat white which was actually a latte, not a flat white by any description. The food service was fairly rapid but the drinks took a long time to arrive and came in dribs and drabs rather than all together. Overall, not a great breakfast and in my view, not good value.
