Very very pleasant plating. The food was awesome. They have 15 different dishes. All of them are very unique and different. We also had wine pairing and I suggest to order 1 pairing for 2 people because its a lot of drinks. The service was great, we sit in front of the kitchen and we enjoy seeing them prepping the food. It was a great experience eating here View all feedback.
What James Baylis doesn't like about Mistral:
After visiting Mistral in the winter we loved it so much that we decided to come back for our anniversary. This time (June 25th) the food was extremely salty. We cook every day and we enjoy salted food, but this was next level, as if it had accidentally been salted twice. Both dishes (agnolotti, steak) were beautifully plated and prepared, except for the excessive saltiness. We could not taste the other ingredients.... View all feedback.
We could not taste the other ingredients. We also were surprised that a place that emphasizes fresh ingredients, quality, and presentation would still have the same things on the menu as our previous visit, including winter vegetables (such as butternut squash) in the summertime. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be returning.
Went on a Wednesday evening after work. Honestly expected a bit more for the price, it ended up being over $100/person and we got a few small plates and one entree. Drinks are average, but the service was good. I requested mayo with my fries (not on the menu) and they gave me their house aioli, which was delicious and the highlight of the meal. Other than that, it was tragically unmemorable.
Had an enjoyable brunch. The Pilsner on tap was awesome, crisp just like in Czech Republic. The star hands-down were the Buttermilk Biscuits. We enjoyed the Brussel Sprout Kimchi, Wings, Smoked Salmon Crudo and the Heirloom Tomato Omelette. The Oysters and Chicken Sandwich did not live up to the rest of the food.
Food we got two fish dishes the Nordic cod and the sea bass. For me the veggies with both were a bit strong on the tomato flavor and a little too much undertone of heat in the sauce. I don't know if it was meant to be more winter menu but it felt a bit like home winter sabzi for those that know what that means. I feel like if the sauces had simmered more or something the flavors in them would be a bit tastier but the strong tomato with the fish didn't leave much fish goodness imo. Also the side salad was wayyyyy too acidic, like it just tasted like licking a lemon. We also got the hibiscus zero proof drinks and kinda similar, very sour. The oysters were good, with those I expect higher acid. I just really felt like the heat and acid on the food were high and it could've been more balanced especially on a summer menu. Service service was kinda slow, think there was only one server for the whole room so if you miss them once you kinda have to wait. Really took a while to get the orders in and get the food to the table. Ambience when we got seated initially it was downwind from the toilets (seats in front of the open kitchen area and somebody left the toilet door open. The smell was a bit hard to miss, we got reseated and it was much better after that. Overall ambience was good. Overall I think if the service were less slow the whole experience would've been better Was too hungry to photograph the fish by the time it came. The shrimp baos were yum!
I came here on a Saturday night in mid June with my husband. We were able to walk in for a two person table at 7pm but the restaurant was definitely crowded and we were lucky to get the table. Overall, I really liked this restaurant! The food was unique, modern, and delicious. Our server was professional and attentive. I also really enjoyed the open atmosphere of the restaurant. This was my first time in Princeton and I get the impression that this restaurant is one of the stand-outs. I would go back and I would recommend.
