Gone are the brown leather couches, dark wood tables, and stained glass light fixtures; instead, you find light wood elements and a simpler, more inviting look. I was particularly fond of the light fittings and wouldn’t mind having some for my own home! The menu is shorter than the usual Spur offerings and is more affordable, which I appreciated. We decided to grab some takeaways for the road, and the following afternoon, we stopped for a sit-down coffee. This allowed us to experience both the takeaway service and the dining experience, each marked by friendly, prompt service. We took advantage of the festive season specials, and let me tell you, they offered great value for money! I enjoyed a hotdog with chips and a milkshake at a surprisingly low price. I couldn’t help but mention to the very friendly manager that they must be losing money on these deals. He smiled and assured me that the head office had done the math, and it wasn’t a complete loss leader. The takeaway was packaged very well, avoiding any messy, soggy packaging. The hotdog was flavorful, the bun fresh, and the chips were the classic Spur style that everyone loves, accompanied by some well-known white sauce sachets. On the way back, we sat down for cappuccinos to recharge for the drive home. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived in sizable mugs, especially considering the price. They were made with a single shot of espresso and had a taste reminiscent of convenience store cappuccino sachets—though there was nothing wrong with them! During our chat, the manager mentioned that they had served 15,000 cups of coffee in just one month—quite impressive! Having opened on December 5, 2015, I am delighted by what I’ve experienced and wish them the best for the future. With their friendly service and inviting atmosphere, I’m certain they’ll thrive! You can count on seeing me again on my next road trip.
