Beer selection is great. Nice menu. Great Reubens and burgers and appetizersand perogies. Avoid the french onion soup. No carmelized onions. It 's very watery. It 's more like an onion broth. That is literally my only complaint. Great location, miss the new paltz one. View all feedback.
What Peter Henderson doesn't like about Schatzi's Pub And Bier Garden:
Food was not bad but in desperate need of salt. I had schnitzel and potatoes and they seemed totally unsalted. It's a subtle thing but really necessary, otherwise the food tastes a bit bland. Staff was wonderful and the beer garden atmosphere was relaxing. View all feedback.
If you find yourself in the Poughkeepsie area, stop here for a drink and meal.
Haven't been in a few years, admittedly, but it feels like quality has dropped off since then. The pretzel bun is still enjoyable, but seemed a bit less flavorful. The rest of the burger was still great, but the regular fries, sweet potato fries, and even the iced tea I ordered were all pretty bland. The bathroom wasn't kept very clean, but the staff was friendly enough and the food came quickly. I probably won't head back anytime soon, but there still are some decent food options here.
I was very impressed with the pretzels and brisket tacos, and the robust tap selection was a pleasure to explore. The outdoor space was truly lovely and the star of our meal.
Great place. Always good beer on tap and awesome food. The schnitzel is delicious as well as the burgers. Huge outdoor seating area. Also you get a glass boot full of beer for free on your birthday!
Excellence with a caveat. This is the best beer list in the area with plenty of taps and many excellent bottled options. Authentic German beers and the birthday das boot are nice attractions. 4 stars for the tap list and pricing. The famous Reuben has unfortunately gone downhill in quality and up in price. (Did they send the chef to newly founded Zeus Brewing? This sandwich used to be the stuff of legend. I think this is because they changed breads, or perhaps the thickness of the slice. Either way, It 's a mouthful of very bready bread, makong it hard to even find the rest of the stuff.. I think this is schmeh. The rye should be light enough or thin enough to get out of my way and let me enjoy the sandwich. And I say this as a rye lover. Fix it, Schatzi 's.
