Contribute Feedback What Katie doesn't like about Prohibition:
Went on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday for a friend. Thank god we were on the guest list there was no way we would’ve paid to get into that mess of a place. Really empty for a Friday and the music sucked with very little room to dance. Along with that my friend was puking in the bathroom and a guy bouncer kept coming in to tell her to get out, in the GIRLS bathroom. Understandable that they wanted us to leave... View all feedback.
Can I do zero stars. Advertised as open took a Tappcar there and back and noone answered
This bar was the worst experience ever. I received a message on facebook from this bar inviting me and some friends to attend that evening with free cover, and first drinks free. I even confirmed that it would be free cover for all of my friends as well as myself, and then said we would be attending. I showed up with my friends at 11:15, and we were told we had to pay cover. The girl at the door actually forced my one friend to pay before I got there, even though she told her we had a reservation promising zero cover. When I arrived at 1115, I was told that after 11, you have to pay cover no matter what. I showed her the entire thread of messages on my phone and let her read them, showing nowhere does it say that there was a cutoff for the free cover at 11. It just promised free entry, and mentioned no time restraints. She went back and forth for awhile, actually accusing me of somehow making these messages up (I don’t even know how I would do that , and saying that’s not “normally what they send out”. I got one of my friends to show her the EXACT same message on her phone that she had also received through messenger. The security guard was extremely rude and told us we were being “bitchy”. I was appalled to be treated like that. I did not once raise my voice, or become rude. I just showed her the thread and said I was promised free cover. She then rolled her eyes, and told us to stand to the side while she looked into it. As we were standing to the side, a group of guys behind us in line came up to her, and said they had no ID’s and no money for cover but they knew Kristin (not one hundred percent on the name but that’s what it sounded like . She actually had the nerve to wave them in right in front of us after telling us there was absolutely no way she’d let us in without paying. These people didn’t even have ID’s and looked barely 18!!! We waited there for another 15 min and she just kept ignoring us, so finally we just paid the 10 dollars because my friend was already waiting inside. Once we got inside the bartender refused to acknowledge the promised two free drinks. We were told we weren’t allowed to sit in the couches (even though they were all empty? , so we just stood in a corner. This was an absolutely ridiculous night, and I am never coming back. I messaged them the next day explaining what had happened and how unhappy I was with the experience. They read the message and never responded. The message was a scam, and so is this bar.
Didn't try the food. They make a good negroni, but depending on the bartender they may not be able to make the range of cocktails you'd expect from a speakeasy style spot. Still, prices run on the cheaper end for a cocktail bar. Lighting skews a little dark, but is okay. The neon lights are cool, and the art on the walls has an intentionally trashy vibe to it that I enjoyed. Couches are comfortable, but it tends to divide the room between the half with high tables by the bar and low-slung couches and chairs. I suspect the music quality may depend on the act, when I was there all the sound came from two speakers right beside the DJ, and sounded a little tinny. But, this review is based on two hours from one night.I'd give it another chance. It's not fantastic, but it was still ok. They have house music on Thursdays, which may be a little better in terms of audio quality.
There is a mandatory 5$ coat check on top of a cover charge. Great business practice /s
Had to waot to get in and when we got in it was quiet. Why pretend to be a big exclusive club? ......in winnipeg! Lol wouldn't recommend
