What User doesn't like about The Olde Bell:
Your lunch menu gives either a 2 or 3 course set price menu, even if a sample menu. We were told that they don't have a 2 or 3 course set price punch menu. We also found that the service was very slow. But the food was hot and delicious. Menu quite limited for choice. View all feedback.
Great food, a bad service. After having eaten and eaten several times in the last 10 years, I have to admit that I was very disappointed. Food was good, but service from beginning to end was not great. Deep lights as follows, completely forget a part of my wife's order, forget a part of my order and delivered 3/4's way through the meal. Had to ask two separate waiting staff for drinks. Answer to the question about horse sauce with my roast beef was a shrug form of waiters (also got it). No staff gave us salt and pepper and after waiting for 5 minutes had to go and some of other tables (dry). Finally, after paying £100 for meal (2 adults and 2 children . My wife and children (not me, where charged in the parking lot and said that they should not park in the hotel parking place if we did not have the hotel that I left the employees (I assume that employees, but unsafe, as in painting overall know that we just ate in the hotel have no excuse (and fair to be out of the hotel, except to see that he would go out! Would you just say our experience of other people who have a drink 'good food, bad advice '
We stayed in The Olde Bell for a joint birthday weekend after having been lucky to stay for work several times before. The rooms were as usual as staff. Eating was okay... had a Saturday dinner in the bar. Not much atmosphere, although beautiful surroundings as a bar was empty except us. Eating was pub fare filled a gap but not excellent.
Lovely. The maitre ‘d was so nice. Really professional without being too stuffy. Dinner was really good. Breakfast was good, quality sausages and bacon. Can’t fault anything. The bed was really comfortable. Lovely garden with outside kitchen in the summer.
Reading very recent reviews we were apprehensive about the service but everything was very nice. Service was efficient and friendly and we had a 3 course meal within 90mins in a lovely setting. Although the menu is limited, the actual food is excellent.
Great setting, sadly rubbish food appalling service. Apparently the staff at The Olde Bell, Hurley all walked out a few weeks ago (Sept 17) I can completely understand the reasons why. Now being run by agency staff who are doing their best, but still no cohesion or plan for exceptional food or service. Avoid going until management have sorted out this mess.
