Ouverall a great experience, it was reasonably quiet, but it wasn't all that busy. We wonder how noisy it will be with a full house with all that hardscaping. But the food was outstanding, as was the service. Our waiter wennt out of his way to help us find a bottle of wine. Much obliged to the team at Village Square! View all feedback.
What Michelle Stuart doesn't like about Village Square:
Went for the brunch – first course came out relatively quickly, then waited close to an hour for entrées. Some entrées were big while other portions were very small. The devil eggs specifically look like there were made a week ago and we're all dried out. For what we paid, the experience was not a pleasant one. Beverages were self service and aside from telling us that the food was coming the waitress didn't really d... View all feedback.
This is a good place and I'm always underwhelmed by the food. The ambience is the best thing going for it.. I have never had an excellent meal here but never a bad one either having said that I think this restaurant promises more than it can deliver since the quality of the food as well as the preparation are not as high end as one is led to believe.. I would say save few and go next door to Roma where the food is as good minus management attitude.
The entire experience was amazing. Our hostess took into consideration where we'd prefer to sit, instead of just plopping us somewhere. Water and menus were immediately dropped off. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. All staff was well trained, polite, and personable. The food was perfection! The tomato pie appetizer made me want to eat the entire pie! The fried chicken main reminded me of my mother's homemade southern fried chicken, and the dessert was delicious. My husband had the deviled eggs as his app and raved about it. His crab quiche was “amazing” and he couldn't get enough of the peach crumble! I love that the penny mimosas and bloody Mary's are self serve. It gives you the option to customize your drink experience (and gauge your soberness ? . 10/10 best brunch this side of the mountain hands down.
Service was slow. We were seated and then waited for 30 minutes for drink order to be taken. Not even water. They place was not busy maybe 1/2 full. Lots of staff. One staffer would walk up and down and take empty plates away every minute or so. After we were finally able to order, and the food came out the waiter dropped it off and walked away. We had to waive down the other waiter that was taking empty plates to get utensils so we could eat. Serving sizes were very small and way overpriced. I would not recommend to anyone.
Wonderful place for a family meal. The food was very good. The standouts are the General Taos's Shrimp (WOW) and the strawberry shortcake. Both are EXCELLENT. Repeat EXCELLENT!!! The service was very good too. We're coming back for another round of Shrimp and strawberry Shortcake.
Rockefeller oysters were good, the raw oysters were just ok. The chef special salad was good, maybe too much salad dressing. The Maryland crabcakes were excellent, filled with lots of crabmeat. Very close to the best we’ve had in Maryland. The coleslaw was bland, need some sauce. The shoestring fries were excellent. The shrimps grits was very different in a good way, just wish more grits. Plenty of shrimps the collard greens was a nice addition. Service was great. Indoor ambiance was nice. Outdoor seating looks inviting. Overall a solid 4.5 rating. They had couple specials on the menu like a ribeye steak and rack of lamb. Great location to a pay parking garage in the middle of Old Town Winchester.
