Driving up the A303 and in need of coffee we followed signs to what turned out to be a closed service area, so put coffee shop into the search box on the mobile phone and were directed here. The inside part of the cafe was closed due to Covid but the courtyard garden was open at the back and we ordered 2 takeaway coffees. We then asked if they had any sandwiches and the boss made us sandwiches there and then, all fre... View all feedback.
What Jules7784 doesn't like about Angel Corner Tea Rooms:
This place could be brilliant if it wasn't for the sarcastic and moody owner who makes you feel unwelcome and like you have put him out!! The breakfast was good.. Went back to the area last week but didn't entertain here again. Shame View all feedback.
We visited this tea room as a divert off of the A303. We are very keen to support local businesses. When we walked in we were screamed at 'sanatise ' and had to sign an old fashioned signing in book. I appreciate people have to take details but it didn 't look secure. Menus were on the table and the gentleman (Paul) lurked in the background. When we went to order a toasted sandwich he said ' no toasties ' sandwiches and cake only. It was 2pm We ordered the food and it was fine but very expensive for what it actually was. The atmosphere in there was dire. I seriously felt like I had walked into teh set of a film were any outsiders were treated with suspicion. When we left my friends said how rude the owner was. I said maybe he 's just very anxious because of Covid. However, after looking at many reviews over a period it seems the owner is generally a bit off. An odd place, one I don 't intend to return and one I don 't recommend.
We stop here whenever en route to and from Devon. It is much more charming than soulless service stations and is cosy, peaceful, welcoming and good value! We have eaten lovely sandwiches here and they have a great range of cakes as well as a good cup of tea or coffee. Highly recommended!
An excellent choice of teas, herbal infusions, coffee, etc with a good variety of food and cakes. Very friendly staff and a warm welcome on a very cold afternoon. Definitely worth leaving the A303 to find this gem.
Went there this morning. A place with character. Enjoyed a cuppa and cake in quiet surroundings. Not the sort of place to encourage mobile using, tattooed women with pushchairs and noisy children. A great cup of tea and tasty Victoria cake. Reasonably priced. Will call there again when next in the area.
Popped in after Google maps diverted us off the M5 and we were looking for somewhere for a snack. Wasn't sure if it was table service or not and still not tbh i stood up at the table and he took my order from the counter. Strange. But tasty coffee, tasty teacakes and reasonably priced. Other customers' food looked good too. Have made a note for next time we are down that way.
