If you are looking for delicious Italian local food away from tourists, then this place nails it. We had prepared and cooked incredible seafood, food with locals. The disappointment was the grim old lady (purchased, she could not speak much English) and the fact that they did not take a card; so I had to walk 15 minutes to get some money out, warn! When we came to pay our €70 bill cash, we gave her €90 cash and she w... View all feedback.
We were there for dinner and ate very well. Fish and Sampi and Oktopus were fresh and amazing. We had Salento white wine to accompany the dinner. The hosts are very friendly, cooking and serving all meals. It's just incredibly delicious. Grazie!
We stumbled upon this place in a grey Vienese evening, when we were disapointed because we were not able to get a table in another neighboring restaurant. When I saw the name, I remembered some friends mentioned it sometime ago and we decided to give it a try. The place was almost empty, but they were expecting a bigger group, so we were offered a table in a not such a great area(near the toilet) and were invited to book ahead next time(will it be a next time? I was not so sure at that moment). The relatively short menu offers a number of choices of seafood, fish and meat and I assume it changes from time to time. We ordered crostini with mozzarella as an appetizer to share and were immediately conquered by the quality of the mozarella and of the dry tomatoes. The fish and lamb chops followed and I have no doubts the fish was one of the best prepared(just grilled, but not overdone) and freshest we had in Vienna. We have tried quite a number of fish restaurants in Vienna, in almost all price-ranges, so we had something to compare with. Our seabass (whole fish) came piping hot, with potatoes and slices of lemon, bringing back memories of Italian summer vacations. The lamb was also nicely prepared and the portion was generous. We had no place left for dessert, but the small espresso was welcome. We took a rain-check for the grapa and we paid our bill, which was around 75€ with two glasses of wine. The service was, in my opinon, really nice and personal, we chatted with three of the owner-staff members, including in our mother tongue, which was a nice touch. We are looking forward to our next visit and another tasty dinner! I am sure this place will become a family favorite.
The recommended we got from an italian! well so, because just passing by, we wouldn't have entered it locally. the osteria does not look at the first look very inviting, but what can fool. it is absolutely authentic: the personal, the ambiente and above all the food. all freshly prepared (according to my friend the venus mussels were fresher than in the holiday in the Greece.:-) antipasti plate with buffalo mozarella - only recommended. we did not have a reservation, yet got a table and were greeted with brot, olives and inlaid tomatoes. it is certainly not bad to speak a little italian, because even the personal, very nice and accommodating, not everything can also explain German, which was no longer bad. we are very satisfied, with full moeping, gone home. price performance ratio is more than in order. Thanks for a nice evening! we'll be back!
A real Italian in the josefstadt. expensive everything, but excellent quality. the seafood of the finest, service very fine.Leider no gastgarten.
Grounded, traditional, original, loving, attentive and culinary. this small, fine piece of the salento, hidden in the house sea of the 8th district, is a true favor. an evening meal here will be a short holiday in the most beautiful part of apulia.
