Haven 't eaten at Samurai in a long time (15+ years). Met some friends for lunch and it was good. Between the 3 of us, we got chicken, beef and fish. We got plenty to eat and it was all good. Lunch prices were pretty reasonable considering the food you get and the fact that it is cooked in front of you. The chef really wasn 't entertaining and I didn 't get the sense that he was trying to be. I 'll probably go again... View all feedback.
What Clara Santoro doesn't like about Samurai of Tokyo:
Although our table chef was kind and helpful, the kitchen staff was not. I have a limited diet due to IBS and it was evident the staff was clueless as to how to handle this. They were unwilling to prepare any kind of fish or meat in oil stating they couldn't guarantee the oil was gluten free. This meant the salad I ate was plain and I could only eat rice and steamed veggies. Makes me curious if kitchen staff doesn't... View all feedback.
They turn cold with the ventilation openings that blow over the tables. while she visited my sister, she took care of this place. we accepted the offer to sit in the barroom because of their low blood sugar, so it was not able to wait the long 45 minutes for a seat. she had to get her pullover to cover my jacket, it was so cold. I am not sure which suppe we were served, but it tasted like watered chicken bock with only two pieces mushrooms and swim a few pieces of green wobble around. the red snap we ordered was so dry that we couldn't eat it. we're not even sure if it was red. I would have liked to use the hacksticks, but how would the world work if we needed a knife to cut the fish and everything we had was a fork? the best part of the meal were the serrated mushrooms and zucchini, but even these vegetables were cold before we could eat them because the air was so cold in our table. I am not impressed and my sister could not believe how bad everything turned out. that was really the worst fish I've ever eaten. I thought it tasted like a dry boiled chicken. I'm grateful I didn't get sick from what I had eaten!
Very good food! our waitress was the sweetest. a match that started our experience badly: we went for a jubilee party with a reservation for 13 and were initially badly sit by the hostes, chairs to tiny corners draw and were very crowded. After we brought it to the manager's attention, we were accommodated nicely. family friendly place!
We had a nice time in samurai by tokio. that was not too long (they do not want to sit groups until they are all together, so plan accordingly.) our waiter was very attentive and has made a good job. the front side of the hibachi cooktops needs a bit of attention, one of all that I saw had old who had fallen on them and spilled them. eating is always tasty and you rarely starve. this is a popular birthday destination as they beat the drum no less than five times while we were there. if they are looking for a nice and quiet evening with a date, this is not their place. If they want to enjoy something fun with others and meet some new people, then this is the home base. always a fun time!
Have not eaten long in samurai (15 years.) I have met a few friends for lunch and it was good. Between us 3 we have chicken, bark and fish. we have a lot to eat and it was all good. the midday prices were quite reasonable when you look at the food you get and the fact that it is cooked before them. the chef was really not entertaining and I didn't get the point that he tried to be. I probably go back to dinner and see if the experience is more like I remember. overall it is a good place for some Japanese style eating.
