Contribute FeedbackI have lived in Germany now for over three years. This is the only restaurant I actually like, as the food is simple but delicious. Restaurants in Germany are not like they are in America. Anywhere you go, they are usually in old buildings, in old hotels, in basements, and tend to be dark and smell of old cigarettes. Resaurant Spilburg is located in a hotel, but the atmosphere is not dark and dingy, but bright and simple. Germany is not known for great service, but we have never had a problem here. The servers are efficient and some speak English. What I really like and appreciate about this restaurant is I can order almost any schnitzel in chicken. If you are familiar with Germany you know that Pork dominates every menu. You will be lucky to find anything in chicken, and if you do, it is a boring half chicken, or chicken breast. This place offers up to 100 different kinds of schnitzel, which include beef, pork, chicken, or even vegetarian (would not recommend the vegetarian schnitzel however , it is really very starchy and mushy.) They also boast an XXL menu which offer HUGE portions. My husband has in the past ordered an XXL burger, and it was at least three times bigger than the burger I have posted. I do not know how the burgers taste compared to American burgers, but my husband enjoys them. I gave 4 stars for service because it is efficient, but lack the charm I think makes service great. 4 stars for the food because though I think it is delicious, it is no Wood Ranch, or Outback Steakhouse. I gave 5 stars for my overall opinion and satisfaction of the restaurant, when not in comparison to my preferred dining experiences or biases. I hope that makes sense. One thing TO order is the chicken knusperschnizel served with a creamy brown sauce, salad and fries. Yum. One thing NOT TO order is the Guinness Beer they are newly advertising. It was beyond flat and tasted closer to water than beer. And for a Guinness that is saying a lot.
