The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant are outstanding. We were a large group and were seated at a lovely round table. The lunch menu was great, catering to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. The food was excellent, and our server was friendly and cheerful. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Macarthur's At The Historic Thayer:
Additionally, the restaurant uses the veranda for storage, and our table was located near the door to it. Since it was a chilly night, every time someone entered or exited through that door, we were hit by a rush of cold air. Given that the restaurant was not busy, we asked to be moved to a different location, but our request was denied, and the staff returned to the veranda instead.

Really nice dinner and view on the patio. Would recommend.
The beet carpaccio was clever and delicious; the salmon was very good but the glaze was too thick and too sweet; the rice was clumpy and a little dry; the apple tart was wonderful! We also had the breakfast buffet, which was very good.
I want to like this restaurant but unfortunately there is no oversight, no good service and the food is sub par. They have a monopoly for West Point patrons and take advantage of us. Some better management and better training and better food would serve us all well. Such a disappointment despite how many times I’ve given this place a chance. Please do better for the cadets and for their families.
The yellow beet carpaccio was good, the steak and duck breast were small and overcooked, the rice pilaf cold and partially cooked, and the asparagus overcooked. There was a long wait for the food.
We had a wonderful meal the MacArthur’s. Both the meal and desserts were delicious. The servers were very friendly. We would definitely visit again!
