We visited the tropical fish store next door and decided to grab a bite to eat. The restaurant provided hand sanitizer, had a logging book, and observed Covid safety guidelines. The service was polite and efficient, with our food coming out quickly. The jacket potatoes were fresh and delicious, not microwaved. We enjoyed soups, one lentil and one carrot and coriander, and were very satisfied with the service and staff. The clean toilets were a nice touch. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back. While slightly more expensive than expected, the quality of the food made it worth it. No complaints about microwave or cold dishes here!
We have been there a couple of times. There's a good selection of cakes, it's nice and cozy inside. We were pretty enjoying the soup and panini, poor quality bread honestly for a place like that. The prices are higher than other places even in Edinburgh centre but without a good reason. At the end we ordered 2 double espresso coffee: this were the worst espressos ever. They haven't a clue how the espresso looks like: it was in a big cup, full of brown water. Completely rubbish. Disappointing!!!
We've visited this place regularly over the years and used it to meet up with friends and family. However, not any more. The prices have increased to the point where it is no longer acceptable. For two small cups of coffee and two small cakes it came to £12. The prices of other items we used to love e.g. home made soup have also gone beyond the acceptable and disappointingly we will no longer be using the place to meet up as there are much less expensive options elsewhere even Starbucks is cheaper!!!
I ordered the soup and panini combo at this restaurant. The advertised cream of mushroom soup, which is one of my favorites as I have trouble with pulses. However, I was disappointed with the soup. It was supposed to be creamy, but it was actually very thin and watery with chopped mushrooms instead of pureed. The soup was also overly seasoned with salt, making it inedible in my opinion. I was underwhelmed and disappointed with my lunch experience, and although I should have complained, I probably won't be returning anytime soon. I have been a loyal customer of this Garden Centre for years, but they need to be more accurate with their advertising and be cautious with seasoning. Very disappointed.
