PAY WITH CASH to avoid credit card fees. Dined in: food was authentic and delicious, lots of options, including vegetarian. Some menu items were not available, but I get it--inflation and availability of goods is wildly unpredictable everywhere right now. Service was fast, they gave us chips and salsa while we waited. I've eaten here a several times and really liked the tamales, tacos, burrito, and especially the chi... View all feedback.
What Chipper Whatcott doesn't like about La Puente:
If you?re looking for sub-par TexMex with inflated prices, this is THE place. I got the enchiladas verdes with chicken. It was mostly cheese on top of a tortilla. There were a couple weird chunks of chicken that were oddly-shaped, but very little chicken in that thing. The beans and rice were fine. The chips and salsa were okay I guess? The salsa was really more of a spicy tomato purée than a salsa though. While the... View all feedback.

They were very kind and accommodating, so I balanced the full review to 3 stars.
The girl at the front had major attitude for no reason. That?s what happens when you hire 16 year olds. I repeated my order over the phone 3 times, then when I proceeded to pick up my order. It was still wrong! Definitely not the same as the south salt lake location. Won?t be ever going back, unfortunately I?ll have to make the drive across town for better service and food.
The food is ok. The best part is the rice. We arrived a half hour before closing and they seated us. The food was out quick. Waiter was nice.
Loved their chips and salsa, but unfortunately it ends there. I had their Nachos Grande and was very disappointed. Each of the components were good, the meat, chips, and guacamole, but the preparation was disappointing. They looked good. There was a lot of cheese, but it was just clumped on the top and not melted thoroughly. I will try them again, but will avoid the nachos and see if I can improve their rating.
This location has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat. The owner makes a point to come around and check on each table at least one time per meal, the servers are great and always helpful and the food is great. They bring your food out on a hot plate so the food stays hot longer. The chips and salsa are always so good. The salsa can be spicy (which I love) but watch out for that if you wiggle with spice food. The rest of the menu isn?t spicy so no need to worry there.
