Onizuka La - West Hollywood

Fantastic, food was an exquisite fusion between Peruvian Japanese, we will definitely come back.

My friend and I had a great time here. The Anticucho Yaki (yakitori) is fun to share and the steak was very tender. We also enjoyed the Ceviche Mixto and Monizuka roll. This place is great for a date, girl time, or celebrating a birthday. The ambiance is definitely energetic in a good way. I could easily come back just for the Monizuka and a drink and be happy.

This was a last minute reservation so we were grateful to find an opening on a Saturday evening. We ate inside and while the interior was comfortable and inviting, the volume of the pulsing techno music was too loud at our table. The Onizuka cocktail was little more than a champagne spritzer …served in a wine glass … with a straw. The Causa de Congrejo looked more interesting than it tasted. The chiles and aioli overpowered any hint of truffle or crab. Not a bad appetizer overall but I would not order it again. Skip it completely if cold potato purée is not in your comfort zone. The hanger steak in the Lomo Saltado was properly cooked and the saltado sauce was excellent. This was definitely the high point of the meal. The Sashimi Platter was OK but not exceptional, although the sauces were a new wrinkle that provided some interest. The service was quite good. We were warmly received, promptly seated, and did not lack attention for attention during the meal. Overall the meal was a bit underwhelming given the limited menu. The approach seems more about the ambiance and appealing to a younger crowd who want to see be seen, rather than the dishes and drinks being served.

Eating is amazing, loved the causa de cangrejo and chaufa de mariscos. the drink was also very good. our waitress was amazing, overall we had a very good experience, will definitely come back.
