Great experience on New Year's Eve dinner with the family. Service was ok. Food was fast very tasty. We'll be back on another day, when it's not such a rush maybe the service will be more attentive. Decedent value for the price of food portions. View all feedback.
What NicholasT doesn't like about The Highwood:
This is really a sports bar with a higher end menu fit for a restaurant. The biggest problem is the confusion of what the space is used for because the music is extremely loud, there are TVs utilizing every piece of available space on the walls, the service is lacking, and the food is mediocre at best. There is very little cohesion on the menu with guacamole, sushi, gnocchi, fried chicken sandwich, and rigatoni bolog... View all feedback.
Great location, beautiful views of NYC, and good food. That 's the good. I rarely write reviews but I left there so irritated that I felt it 's necessary. It 's a Saturday night, 10 pm, on a work trip, watching college football and needed a beer and pizza. Not busy, multiple seats empty at both bars. I sat at the bar near the entrance (top level), and the main bartender, young guy, seems so disinterested and off-putting to be bothered with providing good customer service that it I immediately noticed it. No eye contact, doing the bare minimum, more interested in talking with fellow staff than engaging in the few customers he had. I highly suggest he seek another avenue of employment because hospitality is not in his wheelhouse. The manager happened to be standing next to me and he portrayed the same attitude and was more interested in talking with the staff than the customers. I was there for an hour, and never was asked how my food was, if I needed another drink, nothing. Unacceptable. If they were slammed, I get it, but this was not the case. When I left, there was only one other guy at the bar, and he was getting the same treatment. I paid my bill, and as I was walking out, nothing from the bar staff, no thank you, go f ' yourself, zip. Going out the door, near the hostess table, four employees standing there, and one girl had the situational awareness to say thank you , which I appreciated. I suggest she seek employment at a higher end restaurant because this place is toxic, which is a direct reflection of leadership and management. If an overwhelming majority of the line workers are displaying this dismissive attitude and behavior, then it must be accepted and tolerated by whoever is running the place. I highly suggest taking your hard earned money to a business that actually appreciates you being there and works hard to keep you coming back.
Great place to watch Sunday football. The sesame crusted tuna is DELICIOUS! We also had the chicken satay which was tasty! For drinks, we had the Yuzu Crazy, One in a Melon and Lavender Skies, and all were made to perfection! So good! Our server Vanessa was excellent. Even though she was very busy she was communicative and attentive.
Pleasant sports bar with above average sports bar food. Lots and lots of TVs, fabulous selection of draft beer. Very comfortable. Side salad to start was really fresh a very positive start, with so many sports bar places presenting brown edges on their lettuce. Tried the Port Imperial pizza and was really impressed. It's a little greasy, but the flavors are spot on, the crust excellent, if you're thinking about getting one, stop waiting.
Sports bar type restaurant at the Envue hotel in Weehawken just off the ferry terminal. The fiod cane out super fast and the servers were vert attentive. If the things we ordered the pork bao bun was a hit rigatoni bolognese was saucy and hearty. Bbq chicken pizza was prettt good. The truffle fries were a.bit meh and soggy and the picanha milanese was a bit bland and chewy. Overall a good meal. The pakring in the lot behind was pricey though as we paid $10 for a little over an hour and no validation from the restaurant.
This is my go-to spot the one place I always recommend to people whenever they're near the Weehawken area. They always add new items on their menu and everything I ever tried has been delicious. Nothing about this place disappointments me, well, besides some of their cocktails. The mixed drinks are not the best. They definitely need a better bartender/ mixologists because there's been a few times I had to return cocktails for tasting gross. Aside from that, this place is really nice. It's close to the ferry, so you can grab dinner at Highwood and then head into the city right after. Even though I rave a lot of positivity about this place, I will suggest to make sure you keep a copy of your receipt. I have had 2 instances where I was overcharged $100 on tip. They need to fire whoever their servers are that are changing the tip amount. I had once tipped only $15, but when I checked my bank summary, I was charged $150 for the tip. That's really not cool and I had to call several times to get the situation fixed. That's so shady and honestly, writing this and remembering those moments is absolute triggering. Make sure you get Jenna as your server or bartender. She's the best one there. Hopefully she still works there.
