The restaurant is very clean and well-maintained. The chef who prepared my meal was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I tried their Terminator Poutine, which not only looked fantastic but also tasted delicious. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the Waterloo area. View all feedback.
What Otha O'Conner doesn't like about Almadina Egyptian Cuisine:
Visited several times Shawrma was good, yet the portion was less than expected Every time I go, new staff are hired! expensive than several Middle eastern restaurants I visited The place is not quite clean View all feedback.
This restaurant was recommended by a friend and because I was not familiar with Egyptian food I was excited to try it. The restaurant was clean and bright with a pleasant decor. It had tables and booths. We were told we could sit wherever we prefered since the restaurant was not that busy at 5:00 p.m. It was very busy when we left. Take-out food was also offered. Plus they have a juice bar. The service was prompt. Water with lemon was brought to us along with the menus. Shortly after that a bread basket containing two freshly baked pita bread and hummus. It was delicious. I ordered a pita wrap filled with marinated beef, garlic sauce, onions, tomatoes, parsley, lettuce, and Shawarma spice blend @ $7.99. It was very good and very filling. It was a large portion for me. My friend ordered the Shiska Kabob Plate @ $16.99 which had two skewers of striploin beef and his sides were lettuce, tomatoes, pickled turnips and Egyptian rice. He shared the rice with me and it was the best rice that we have ever tasted. The portion was also large. Washrooms: one for females; one for males In other words not a washroom with stalls to accommodate several people at one time. There is lots of free parking. Visiting this restaurant was a good experience and I will definitely be returning.
The server/cook was an artist! Every bite was delicious. That Egyptian rice is like no other! Clean place, friendly service and delicious food.
- Visited several times - Shawrma was good, yet the portion was less than expected - Every time I go, new staff are hired! - More expensive than several Middle-eastern restaurants I visited - The place is not quite clean
The Almadina is our favourite restaurant in Waterloo! shawarmas and so much more and so incredibly flavourful! Under new supervision recently - huge improvement in staffing and service. Always a great experience.
I was there with a friend and we had the Egyptian Poutine. Every element, rice, sauces, beans, feta... was really very tasty. They make all their own ingredients. I didn't have the Shawarma but it looked really good too. This is a big bowl of happiness. The company has a few locations in Waterloo. This location is casual and well suited to students and quick eating. Its not lavish but very functional. I would definitely stop here on a busy day. The owner seemed to really care about the food.
