What User doesn't like about The Gibson:
The cocktails were just average, and the service was quiteOdd. I ordered a $20 handcrafted cocktail that came with barely-there ingredients, reminiscent of an old fashioned. It felt like a farewell to something better. The only redeeming factor was the discreet front door, which had a certain charm. View all feedback.
A classic conversation with a great ambience, attentive and knowledgeable bartenders and a fun rotating menu to inspire a new selection of drinks. A great place to meet with friends or get a date.
This speakeasy was tucked away off of U street. The drinks were okay, but the vibe was everything. Very fun for a chill night. Make sure you have a reservation.
The MOST delightful people work here and they have the best recommendations for drinks. you just have to give them a flavor and a vibe and all your dreams can come true. couldn’t recommend this place more
Completely underwhelming place. The waiter asked me what I liked …something served up and in the aromatics. They produced an off the menu dud (he would not explain what that witless concoction was) that was so imbalanced that I exchanged it for an old fashioned hoping for the best reeling in from the opening shocker and sticking to the basics. The wife’s cocktail was an overreaching and unmitigated disaster with tomato bitters it tasted rancid as if you distilled vomit. For snacks packeted kettle chips…really?? things must be bad in this town for this place to be popular. Avoid like the plague.
My friend and I stopped by The Gibson for a few drinks between dinner and a concert a few weeks ago and had a good time. It was busy (I think we were lucky to get one of the last tables since we didn't have a reservation), but you can make reservations on Resy! We had a couple of their signature cocktails We Are the Weirdos, Mister (Irish whiskey, English breakfast tea syrup, grapefruit, Indian tonic, cardamom old fashioned bitters, and a floater of MacLeod's Islay Scotch) and another that I can't remember. The service was good. We ended up moving to two bar stools when they opened up. Definitely a classic speakeasy well hidden in plain sight behind a nondescript door. We had a fun time, and I'd definitely return!
