We had an enjoyable lunch at this hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient and there was a very good choice of meals on the menu. We both had the slow cooked lamb shoulder. It was excellent. Drinks are at reasonable prices and seating is comfortable. View all feedback.
What bellspot doesn't like about Great Western Hotel:
We attended for lunch during the week, been a while and always remembered it being good. We both ordered calamari off the specials board, $28/meal I think. I definitely don’t mind paying when it’s good and it was VERY GOOD however pretty disappointed on the meal size. An actual rip off. 8 pieces of calamari (yes I counted because I was so surprised at how little there was) a small handful of chips and half a plate of... View all feedback.
Compliments to the chef! we picked up a great chicken parmy, chicken carving and a perfect steak. on order and on time. love that supports our local. well done! we will be back
Not bad! there are so many good, cheap places in geelong now, they do not have to place high prices below average food with substandard non-existent service. in the last 10 years the place has gone down the hill, the staff looks miserable in zero effort to serve them, the menu is unimaginable and seems like much of it pre-bought frozen. if I gave him a 0.
I always find it hard to check places like these because they can expect in the round what is to be expected. gory teppich, laminat wood tables, the boring sound of the ponies play over in the background. so probably not the best place for a romantic dinner. we had a casual lunch here with the great parents who enjoyed their home meals, so I think this place works for a target audience. eating is quite bland and very basic, as expected from a typical casual bistro
Eating here is pretty, nothing about spectacular, a little higher quality than their regular pub meal and the prices are quite competitive, only female workers in the bar can be a little rude is the only thing that leaves it down!
To begin with you are greated with a very presentable pub/hotel with a modern touch. Meals were very basic but medium price range. Chicken Parmigana is the go to favorite for any pub meal. $17 it was dry, overcooked and tough. Drinks at bar Prices were extreme to say the least. General atmosphere is pleasant but unfortunately thats not enough for a return visit.
