Found this place by referral while strolling the Olympic Village. Delicious salmon sampler, salads and everything we ordered. Lovely sidewalk seating, and most accommodating wait staff (we had some fussy toddlers). If you're using public transit a little off the path, but save some steam after the Science Museum and take the 15 minute walk over here. Great beer and cocktail selections too. View all feedback.
What Queen O'Hara doesn't like about The Fish Shack:
The oysters were plump and fresh and the steamers were great. The music was way, way too loud for a dining room (this place isn't meant to be a dance bar, right? and our party of four could not stand the heavy rock music. I was so impressed with the awesome quality oysters we got for $1/shuck, and the caesars were awesome!! It was so good last night, we're going back tonight! Definitely don't miss out on this awesome find!
We sat at the bar for dinner. Kyle was welcoming and gave us great descriptions of the beer, and the various dishes we asked about. He also offered all kinds of suggestions of what to do and where to eat in Vancouver since we're only here for a few days. He was very personable! My husband had a halibut fish fry (to die for) and I had the seared salmon dinner. The only thing I would have changed with my dinner was subbing the potato bravas for more cauliflower, but that's a personal preference.
The Fish Shack has a great oyster happy hour. The bartender was engaging In Conversation while also shucking oysters
Great place to eat. Fish is your best choice at the Shack, but other foods are available. Definitely one to try.
