A great find, food was amazing. Highly recommend the Crab Broth (be ready to get your fingers in the mix.. Gambas Curry and Deep Sea Red Crab Curry for mains, delicious (again, you need to get your fingers in the mix to get the best of it . Ended with the Banana Flambe…. Service was just as good and Kumar was just right balance of helpful and attentive. You won’t regret it…. The messy table Sums it up…. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Le Capitaine Grand Baie:
The octopus tasted like flip flops while it was sold to us as the best octopus in the world by the staff The staff kept pushing us to get the most expensive plate on the menu despite telling them that one of my guest was allergic to shellfish. The rest of the food was OK at best but not worth the price. The view was amazing however View all feedback.
I was invited there for dinner in June 2022. The restaurant was about 20% occupied. We wanted to have the seafood platter, but it was not available. Service is good. Corkage fees is somewhat high. Some wines are not available from the wine list. Price is on the high side
Worst seafood restaurant on the island. We went there after being told that this is the best seafood restaurant to go to. We ordered the seafood platter and some soft drinks. The waiter brought us the soft drinks already poured into 2 tiny glasses filled to the top with ice. The seafood took less than 15 minutes to prepare and when it got to us, there were tons of small flies flying around it. We told the Waiter that this is not normal and he said that this is a fresh seafood restaurant and that this will always happen. However, we have been to many seafood restaurants and this has never happened. After seeing the flies buzzing around the food we smelt it and it had a pungent smell to it. I cut through the lobster which was completely raw. When I asked the waiter he said that everything was cooked together so it cannot be raw. The seafood looked like it had been frozen and microwaved before serving. We had no option but to return the food. Fortunately, as it seems that this is a common occurrence they were quick to tell us that there will be no charge. We still ended up having an absolutely great seafood lunch at half the price at our hotel.
A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Sadly a few items were missing from the menu and wine menu. I guess we can blame that on covid. Staff were friendly and made every effort to accommodate our arrival without a booking. We shared a whole lobster which was delicious. The raw sliced fish (yellow fin tuna when we visited) had a bit too much oil on it, but you could tell the fish was fresh! Sadly they were out of creme brulé.
Realy Nice Service and great Food Quality. I will visit again in few Month's
Fresh, tasty seafood. The platter is the main draw but I was sorely disappointed that they did not have lobster or calamari on a Friday night. The chocolate fondant was rich and perfectly palatable but was served split in the middle which defeats the purpose of a fondant...
