I really like this place and am surprised at all the bad reviews.... The food is awesome and in my opinion they have the best beef subs. Yes the service is poor. Come on guys this isn't a fancy French food destination. This is a quick stop 24 h viet place. And it gets busy and the one or two servers get overwhelmed. I noticed one reviewer said he was yelled at. Asian ppl are loud and I doubt the yell was personal. Ge... View all feedback.
What Jaya D doesn't like about Gold Train Express:
We stood at the door waiting to be addressed for 10mins straight. The server there didn’t even make an attempt to greet us let alone seat us or at the very least inform us of how long it will take. Super rude server there were tons of seats open and she was just blatantly rude. View all feedback.
Lovely place. The mango shake was good.Doesn't serve halal, but if you aren't into it.My friends enjoyed the soup and vermicelli.
We went there today for lunch and ordered grilled lemongrass pork chop with rice, spring rolls, hot coffee and Vietnamese baguette. Pork chop was dry and bland, like being prepared for some time, tasteless and not fresh. The ingredients of Vietnamese baguette was not to mention, just giving out ham and cilantro, barely had any dressing at all. Would never go again. There are so many pho restaurants along Kingsway and this is the one not very authentic and poor in quality.
I would rate 0 if I could. All you can smell in there is cigarette. My friend and I were there for 15 mins but the server didn’t even offer us water or anything.Don’t come there are many other pho choices in town!!!
We were here recently and we’re completely disappointed. I tried to order an add on for my meal and the server couldn’t understand English enough to make the order. The food was mediocre at best and lukewarm. There was a woman with clear mental health issues and she would wander around the small restaurant, and would bother some of the customers and there was a couple of times when the staff had to chase her to get her to sit down. We’ll never eat here again, and certainly don’t recommend eating here.
Had a very weird experience today. Now to clarify, this place has been my favorite pho restaurant for over 10 years. Today was a little different. I walked up to the front door and was greeted by a man trying to offer me tequila shots. The staff didn 't seem to care what he was doing. Going around the restaurant offering alcohol to people at 10am on a Sunday. I didn 't know if he worked there or not, never seen him before. I left after he came to my table insisting I drink. I had to tell him I was recovering from drinking and cannot have any liquor at all. He kept asking why i dont 'party ', what about mollys? He stated his reason was he needed to make sales that day. I left feeling awkward about the whole situation and concerned for the quality of food if this is what was happening at the restaurant. I would love to eat here again but not like this. What happened to this place?
