The service was very attentive and our server was really friendly and knowledgeable. The food however was a bit underwhelming. A bit too much cheese which made the pasta very salty. I love salt so this was too much even for me. The guancile wasn’t crispy enough for the carbonara. The presentation of the dishes were very beautiful and I did like how there was a perfectly poached egg on top to mix into the pasta. View all feedback.
What CheriGregoire doesn't like about Ask For Luigi:
Small restaurant, tables so close together (without plexiglass in between) you could spit on your neighbours food, and very loud with so many people in such a small space. My pasta, the Fregola Sarda needed more sauce and was skimpy on the mushrooms. Expensive and way overrated. Service was good View all feedback.
I went for brunch on a Sunday. We arrived around 12:30 and could sit down immediately. There was a bit of a line after we arrived. We weren’t that hungry but shared a sourdough prune burrata thing, a mushroom pasta, and a olive oil cake with whipped ricotta. All great! Can’t wait to go again. Next time I want to try the carbonara.Oh, great coffee!
A small location, and I recommend reserving a spot so you don't have to wait, but the food is amazing. We had the black noodles and seafood and uni butter with crumbs sauce. It was so good that I almost forgot to take a picture before I cleared my plate! Food was made fresh on-site, and there are friendly and knowledgeable servers. I highly recommend Ask for Luigi for a meal...and a second, third, fourth, fifth...
Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The pasta is some of the best food I have ever tasted. Mostly come for dinner but have come for brunch too. Brunch with pasta... say less.I come here every time I am in Vancouver and I am never disappointed. The staff is great and the ambience is too small and cozy, so fun to watch them make the pasta as you wait. worth the wait if you come and there is a line. Recommend making resos in advance cant wait to come in a few weeks!
Reaaaally good food! The burrata was nice and fresh. The radiatore verde mushroom trifolati was my favourite.Meat balls were huge and not a favourite but they were nice. We got it with spaghetti.Hate how they do walk ins only and no reservations (unless you’re willing to pay $30)
Our spot to try for our staycaytion. We arrived a few minutes after 12pm. We were quite lucky to get seated immediately. Megan our server was friendly, amazing and knowledgeable. Full of smiles and ready to answer any of our questions. We went with the specials. The burrata salad with pistachios and asparagus. Delicious! Right amount of seasoning and flavoring. I ordered the lamb ragout. My wife ordered the cacio pepe. You'd think they weren't enough to eat! Wow they were so generous. The portions were perfect. The lamb was so flavorful to the very last bite. I couldn't get over how good these meals were. My wife asked that her cacio pepe not be too peppery and they were able to accommodate her request. She loved the dish. It was creamy, cheesy with the right amount of pepper. We both noted that their pasta must've been made in house. The perfect chew of the al dente noodles provided a beautiful experience. We topped it off with the Panna cotta which had the stewed plums and crumbly biscotti. Perfect way to end a wonderful dining experience. They are recommended by the Michelin Guide. They are a bit on the pricey side but they are well worth it. This is one of those date night or day places. Quaint and intimate. We absolutely loved our visit here. Thank you Ask for Luigi and to our server Megan, thank you so very much.Parking: Be careful where you park and be aware of the street parking signs because they will ticket you if you aren't parked in a free zone.
