What Mariah Evans doesn't like about Intercontinental Saint Paul Riverfront, An Ihg:
staff is exceptional, made the visit feel very safe welcoming. loved the staff member who checked me in the woman who brought my room service was a delight.their website is misleading though the rooms are not particularly fancy generally outdated. 1. there were not slippers in the room as advertised 2. the bath robes were ratty 3. bathroom fixtures, tub, both obviously old wearing out a bit. 4. the bedside lamp made... Total mixed bag. Room overall was good but the brown paint was one big meh. And then there was the elevator. One out of three was working. After waiting about five minutes, I hoofed down the the 12 floors via the stairs. Also, we were annoyed by not be able to haul our own luggage. We were told people don 't return the cart. But the reality, it was clear tips keep the workers working. (They were all quite friendly btw but we are do-it-yourselfers and don 't like being nickeled and dimed at every turn.)Coffee was ghastly and powered creamer is something I expect at the Motel 6, not a place of this caliber. Room lacked microwave and fridge. The desk chair was broken also, I 'm grateful I didn 't end up on the floor. I left a note on it for housekeeping and they swapped it out.Workout area was nice. Grabbed a piece a fruit from there but it was inedible.Parking in the hotel parking lot is expensive and only by valet so we parked a block away and paid about half the rate. (Not to mention the need to tip a valet!)We won 't be back.
Stayed at this hotel, nice location but that’s about it. Rooms are clean, but clearly time for a refresh. On the day we arrived, only one of the three elevators was in service…not good for a 22 story hotel. In the room we had, the TV turned on but did not correctly display colors, so basically unusable. Informed the front desk of the issue, they said they send someone up, that didn’t happen. Reminded them of this the next morning, TV guy shows up empty handed, then takes an hour to round up a new coax cable. That doesn’t fix it, has to get a new TV, been more than an hour still not back. I called the front desk, they’ll check on it. I’ve never stayed at an Intercontinental in the US, but have stayed in some while traveling abroad and it’s been an excellent experience in the past. This location does not appear to care about customer experience. Back on the elevator topic, while waiting for an elevator, another patron told me that one of the elevators they were on, did not stop level with the floor, so they had to crawl down to get out! Major safety issue!Nearby activities: Like the access to other points of interest, would not recommend staying here to anyone I know.
Front desk staff is terrific. One of our rooms smelled faintly of sewage. Restaurant is good, but there's very little else around there. Kind of nice that there's a walk along the river, but not much else.Walkability: It's a short walk to downtown but there are a fair number of homeless people hanging out on the streets. And there's next to nothing near the hotel itself.
Very welcoming check-in personnel, Ayka! She was very efficient and did an amazing job with the seamless check-in process and for giving me a very thorough info about your beautiful property and the benefits of being an Ambassador Diamond member. The complimentary upgrade to the Corner suite was very much appreciated. The room was beautiful and I loved the personal handwritten note from Julia, welcoming us to the property and wishing us a pleasant stay. The property has the most amazing views of the river and is very well-maintained throughout and conveniently situated within minutes walks of restaurants and the downtown attractions. The restaurant was great and we had an incredible breakfast there, with the most awesome server. My only complaint was the sad food offering at the Club InterContinental.I would definitely stay again in this amazing property and would highly recommend it.
