We had a party of 15, so it was quite a task coordinating with the manager Harry and the fantastic staff to arrange for our meal to be held in the banquet room at the back of the restaurant. When we arrived, I was amazed at the effort they had put in to set up our table beautifully, complete with a fully decorated Christmas tree. Despite apologizing for a possible delay due to two staff members calling in sick, there... View all feedback.
What Justin S doesn't like about The Royal Oak:
I hadn't been in the Oak for many years but recently have popped in a few times/ I am soooo impressed with what the new owners have done with the place, it looks lovely and has a great atmosphere. The food smells DELICIOUS! However I didn't stay for very long tonight as I was appalled at the way one of the staff members spoke to a younger member of staff! From being there before, I know that she isn't management but... View all feedback.
I went to this pub with my close friend and had an amazing experience! I hadn't been here since the new owners took over, but we had a delicious lunch that was well cooked and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this place!
Based on the majority of reviews, it appeared as though there were two different pubs as they all praised the staff, service, and food. Unfortunately, our experience was not the same. We had a reservation for 12:30, but arrived at noon to find ourselves as the only customers. We ordered two lattes, a smoked pumpkin soup, and steak with eggs and chips. The pumpkin soup lacked pumpkin flavor and had excess oil floating in it. It was served in a small enamel bowl that was only half full. We had to request a soup spoon and butter, which was brought to us on a dessert spoon. The steak my husband ordered was tough and difficult to cut, with bits of gristle that were inedible. We waited around 12 minutes for our coffees and an additional 15 minutes for our food, despite inquiring about the wait time. The only items worth paying for were the chips and mushrooms that came with the steak. We will not be returning as there are better options available and life is too short to waste time and money on subpar dining establishments.
Myself, my mum cousin visited on 22nd Oct had a really lovely Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly helpful. The food was very tasty, well presented good value. Would definitely return recommend.

The food smells DELICIOUS! However I didn't stay for very long tonight as I was appalled at the way one of the staff members spoke to a younger member of staff! From being there before, I know that she isn't management but sure didn't have a problem speaking to her like she owned the place. She appeared to be on a serious power trip with the young girl and acted far above her wage. Everyone should be treated with respect, and people say it is the teenagers that have the attitude, in this case, I disagree. 20/10/2023
