We had afternoon tea it was delightful! Walking into Stonehorse Cafe, the delicious smells greeted us. We had a reservation, so we were promptly seated and on our way to a seven course tea time. The tea options were many, each served in a French press at the table. I'm a child at heart, so my favorite parts were the rock candy stir stick and the mini honeypot. Everything was amazing! Don't sleep on this Cafe option! View all feedback.
What christian sanchez doesn't like about Stonehorse Cafe:
The food was quite expensive for the quality. I ordered lamb, which turned out to be a soup, something not mentioned on the menu. My wife ordered ravioli with chicken, which was also served as a soup and was not good at all. We then ordered a chocolate mousse, which took 15 minutes to arrive and tasted similar to a store-bought one with some berries. The wine and service were both good, but the food only deserves a 5... Came here for an afternoon tea with some friends visiting from out of state. The food was good, but paying $45 person for a 7 course meal sounds great, right? The portions were disappointing, to say the least. One savory treat cookie small baked good per person on each serving. For example, one course was a single cucumber sandwich slice that was 1 4th size of a regular sandwich. I thought that was a bit ridiculous. Every where else I have been for afternoon teas, and high teas, there is always a larger portion size for the entire group, and usually this gets taken home and ate for later or to relax and eat during the experience of the tea. I will say the actual tea selection was fantastic, and they all were great. It was a big disappointing to not get offered honey, sugar, creme, etc for the teas, even though I take my tea just plain. It would be a nice option. I will say the wild mushroom and rice soup (the vegetarian vegan option) instead of the French onion soup was VERY good. Something else that took away from our experience was the manager, loudly moving tables and re arranging the furniture around us, in the front of the restaurant, while loudly and ordering his staff around and calling a staff meeting quite literally while we were sitting one table over from them. This is NOT the servers hostesses fault, at all. This is completely the fault of the manager and management team. I could tell the servers and hostesses were mortified. They kept apologizing to our party over and over again and we assured them it was okay. I honestly felt bad for them, because it's not like they could say anything to their management team about how ridiculously inappropriate and loud they were being. It really detracted from the experience overall, and I will not be back. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian and vegan options. Just ask, they are very accommodating.
Very nice, quiet, there are always few people the times I have gone,
The food is good and service used to be good and it 's not anymore. This is the third time we had a bad experience. Today we sat down and waited 20 minutes for our glasses of wine. When ordering them, the waitress didn 't have a pen so she had to ask us twice what were the wines we wanted so she could remember. We had order an appetizer first thing, and after 30 minutes we had to ask where it was. The waitress said that we got missed (other tables that arrived later than us were getting their orders, and the place was not busy because it was a late lunch) and the appetizer would be ready soon. Ok, I was going to wait, but then she said, by the way, can you remind me what your food order was? I remember one of the things you ordered, but not the other. So I guess she hadn 't put the food order yet. We also didn 't get any refills on water the whole time. We told her we didn 't want to wait and asked for the check. The check wouldn 't arrive and finally she shows up with our appetizer (at this point 40 minutes after we sat). We said we were just going to leave. She didn 't charge us, which was good. We left after 40 minutes without having eaten. This is a place where you can easily pay 50-100 per person for lunch. It 's is unbelievable they have this kind of service. Please invest in some PENS for service staff so they remember what you order. We wanted to do a special lunch, but this didn 't bring me any joy.
Had the recommended lamb shank which was good enough but would have been better with less salt and had more vegetables.also had the mousse which was prettily presented but was missing flavor in the mousse.server was a complete sweetheart and made the overall experience to five stars.
