Stoped with fam for a bite, didn't know they had a buffet for lunch. We tried it, and we were glad we did. The quality was just as good as dishes ordered off the menu, with a large variety. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Chow Family Restaurant:
This was our second trip to the buffet - just as disappointing this time as the first. There was very little variety, the rice was dry, and the few other dishes offered were not very flavorful. There was some (very little) fresh fruit, a few raw veggies for salad, one pie (certainly not bakery or home made), one pan of squares and ice cream. The chocolate fountain had a small bowl of marshmallows beside it - I guess... View all feedback.
Food was definitely not like 10+ yrs ago and tasted like it was not fresh. Egg rolls were dry inside.
This place is not bad, but I did not visit this place in a few years.
Owner is always very friendly eating is very good price (I always get compliments). eating is usually very good, although sometimes something can be dry, as I are a lot of Chinese food places sometimes. the service is fast. All-you-can-eat (if it ran) has always lots of options for dinner, seems less worth lunch. all right.
Ordered Combination plate H, and I was quickly disappointed by the bland overcooked rice with dried out pieces of chicken. And then there was the spareribs that had more fat than any pork. I also ordered an Spring Roll that consisted of all vegetables drenched in grease, not to mention the meat based egg roll, had a rather disturbing amount of curry. The sweet and sour chicken balls, were the only item that was edible, just because the batter surrounding the formed chicken was crispy. And the worst thing was I had t pay to get delivery of this under par food. Overall I will never order from the Chow Family again.
We had dinner during the week and the restaurant was not at all busy. We ate in the garden room which was nicely decorated and had a sky light. As expected, the menu was extensive. We ordered the special platters which were of moderate price ($12-$15 Canadian). The meal came with several courses and was really huge. When I return, I will ask to not have rice as the main dishes were so large that they could not be finished and we could not bring leftovers on our travels. It might be a good idea to consider sharing a meal if you have an average appetite. We enjoyed our stay and found the staff delightful.
